Donating plasma is NOT donating blood. Get it right.

It’s because you live in a high risk drug abuse place. You cannot donate if they think there is a risk of you sharing needles or other things that could disqualify you from donating. They have the right to refuse anyone for any reason also.

I work at CSL Plasma. If you live in a group home, shealter, or anything like that you’re not able to donate. It’s just the rules.

It is imperative (and also Federal Law) that these Plasma Donation Centers be able to contact you by mail for 8 weeks from the date of donation. The reason that these Drug and Felon Transition Centers are ineligible addresses per Federal Regulations is due to the fact that receiving mail at one of those facilities leaves open the possibility that a donor can later claim that they were never notified. Thus creating other issues that may become legal matters that expose the Donation Centers to legal liabilities.

Lazy reporting. Plasma centers have to follow FDA and other health guidelines. Each center does have a list of unacceptable addresses which includes transitional housing. It is not a judgement on the person but it is a calculated decision to limit the possibility of getting donations from "high risk" groups. Unfortunately this fellow was living at such a facility. It is not a right to donate plasma, just as it is not a right to donate blood. There are many reasons you can be deferred and those reasons exist to protect the plasma supply.

I used to work at one of these plasma clinics. It’s because you’re in transitional housing. Meaning, you’re either a criminal or drug addict. Which makes you a “higher risk”. You’re lifestyle makes you more susceptible to blood-borne illnesses

I've been donating plasma at CSL for 15 years and I can tell you right now that this guy and the Anchor news people don't know anything about this process. First off your not donating blood, plasma is extracted from the blood via a centrifuge. I donate at CSL in Southfield, Michigan. If this guy was denied, it's either he doesn't have a permanent residence or his veins weren't acceptable for the process. It has nothing to do with the neighborhood you live in. Oh by the way, I live in the hood in Detroit, Michigan.

The FDA states you have to have a address!!! It’s regulated by FDA! I work there the FDA and GHA determine the rules. The address has to be a house or apartment. It’s a reason for this rule. Keeping our product safe.

I work at a Plasma center, what most people don’t understand is that as soon as you sign up you literally sign a contract that states that the process is completely voluntary, if anything goes wrong you literally agreed to take part in it regardless if you get paid or not.

They give you $40-$45 yet they sell your plasma for $350 + f csl

And the address was denied due to it being “high risk “ to the people receiving the plasma products

Because you are a transient. You must live in a house that is not coded as transitional. Transitional housing usually means shared commonplace like kitchen and bathroom with people you do not know. This puts you at a higher risk of blood borne diseases, that's hard to track if you keep getting new roommates, because again it's transitional. This industry is also required to have you live in a residency for at least 8 weeks after your donation because they are required to send you a certified letter about positive blood work. If you live in transitional housing, it's usually impossible to prove you will be there for 8 weeks or more.

I currently work at a csl plasma and most of you are wrong the reason that man could not donate is because every center has a list of unsuitable addresses meaning you don’t live in an apartment, house, condo, town house, trailer etc with a 6 month or 12 month lease then you can’t donate meaning any kind of shelter, motels, hotels, transitional housing or anything like that then you can’t donate we can’t control what the policy says we do not google anyone’s address so once we type that address into our system the system automatically stops everything and puts a hold on the account and give us the reason why once that reason is given we can’t change it and we can’t tamper with the system to do so all of that is corporates policy also people have to understand that the prices go base off the demographics of that city not all centers have the same price another thing the prices go base off weight because our weight limit is 110-400 pounds meaning if you weigh 110 pounds we can only take 625ml of plasma because if we were to take 880ml you would most likely pass out or have a reaction on the bed so why would we pay you more for less? And also just because you donated 6 times doesn’t mean you technically helped somebody because it takes at least 1200 bottles of plasma just to make one medication and also people need to understand that this donation is forced upon anyone and lastly I highly doubt any of your plasma has been used on anyone because we are a multi billion dollar company we have at least five years or more worth of frozen plasma stored somewhere because you never know when the world might need plasma so yours might be sitting in a freezer somewhere waiting to be used for somebody who’s life might depend on it but there are some cases were your plasma might be used more quickly probably by someone in your own hometown

I know someone who got out of jail and was in a homeless shelter but he used his current id that had his previous address on it.

I donated for 2 years and I was permanently deferred because I came in 10 minutes before closing all the time. They wrote me up for not properly pumping my hand. Now I cant go back to any of the centers. All the other centers told me I have tongo to that center and request the manger to remove the deferrement. I have gone there in the past 3 times in 3 years and she won't do it. I have a huge Scar from the do you think I can sue them for this, wrongly taking my abitly to donate, and scarring me for life removing my ability to make 600 extra a week. It's kind of unfair
