Going against the grain always makes a rough edge noticed you went with the grain when you used the planer. I do think you should use things correctly or at least both the same way if you want to give a honest review

Well daggum. I had the exact same result. I even saw the mixed reviews at the HD site but sometimes you just have to try it yourself and now I have to go back to the store and exchange it for a planer. Thanks for showing me the correct tool for the job because I've got about 12 door slabs to hang.

The edge of a door is beveled. Does the Ryobi tool follow the angle of the bevel or does it cut square to the door face?

My grandpa had a craftsman planer attachment for a craftsman drill. The cutting blade was spiral shaped as well. It must have been junk since it looked hardly used.

The reason that tool takes that off uneven is because those doors have a little bevel on them. They are slightly angled. One side always sticks out a bit further than the other. I think that tool would be really handy for cutting the top of a door that is rubbing a little bit if you do not want to take the door off the hinges. Most of the time they are rubbing on the side that has the latch so you don't need to take anything off of the hinge side. I have a cordless planer that works well for this but I think that tool would be handy for a door that is slightly rubbing on the left side. Something you want to just take a little bit off. The top of the doors usually don't have that bevel so it would cut evenly.

This is good but stupid. I was looking for the name of the tool but did not get it. Put the name and link of the item.
