That’s gotta be tough. To find a game to play like all the time. When I go to work, it’s a bit different. I’m working I’m not generally having fun. But if my job was to play hunt for 8 hours. That would be very tough.

I have to be honest, I almost watch exclusively variety because I enjoy the personalities over the sweaty gameplay and like the constant change in content when someone is creative with it.

As a new streamer that started about 6 months ago, I appreciate these shorts a lot.

Great advice once again. Even moving to a new game after being established is difficult. Variety is even harder.

Same advice I gave my buddy just 2 days ago... Almost verbatim

No way I coule be a game streamer.
Not only do I not have the tenacity to only play one game to the point of mastery, but I don't have the charisma or wherwithal to multitask with chat.

You sir, are a champ!

I wouldn't say that's entirely true. There are some very talented people that are just a entertaining persona/character which are capable of playing variety. I would also argue that you can be successful if you are concentrating on a similar genre of games if niche enough. But I totally agree that you chances of being successful is way higher with one game like Mike said. The thing is I would never go into streaming nowadays with the only goal getting successful. It should be fun for you and success is a positive side product

It’s really hard. Tried to get into game streaming and my first game that got me any attention died really quickly even though it was a lot of fun. Rapture rejects the battle royal made by the creators of “cyanide and happiness”, it was too expensive with not enough players that felt more early access with not enough game content. The game play was a lot of fun though and it was challenging but queue time to get players into a game was too long and it was really hard for new players to get into cause they would be playing the diehards right away, so no mmr ranking, so there was no chance to build a player base for anyone interested.

I think there is something to be said for sticking to one type of game, rather than one specific game.

For example, if you are "the lego guy" who plays lego games all week, people might come no matter if you play Lego Racers or Lega GTA.

But overall, I agree.

CohCarnage is the exception that proves this is true

I have seen, in my life, two kinds of content creators. People who try to make mathematically optimized content for maximum watch time and growth metrics. And people who simply make videos and let things happen as they may. With people sometimes oscillating between the two modes as they progress.

The latter group are always the happiest. If you want to make videos on one game, and can manage that, then power to you. But you should do what you like and not what is “best”. If you build it they will come.

I've always been a gamer. A variety of games. But when streaming coming into play, it's not so much what I want to play but more my audience. When I play hunt, the regulars show. When I play anything else. It's a ghost town

You can go for variety, but you really have to be the right person.

If you're going for something like Mike, then he's correct. But if you're going for untreaded territory with a new concept, then go for it.

The more saturated a market gets, the harder it becomes to hold ground in it.

Ask yourself, "why should anyone watch me over someone else?" and answer it.

Find something that you do well and others don't; and you'll have yourself a market.

you keep saying variation can't survive but it does at least in the vtubing scene a lot of vtubers are variation streamers, but I think you are right variation with flesh tuber is dead

Tarkov, hunt showdown, dark and darker. Instead of focusing one game, focus games in the same genre!

Almost agree, let's just say that making a living with content creation around a single game is pretty hard and rare, but making content creation with variety gaming is 10 times as hard and extremely rare.

Mike, you are the face of Hunt: Showdown, and I wouldn’t have it any other way 😎

This is mainly what i tell people who ask me whi i dont play 20 different games and make content on all of them. Not easy to succeed and since im new to content creation anyways its and uphill battle... But cheers to big things this year for all!
