I think that setting powders are to hide oils mostly but the finishing powder helps hide any imperfections that you would want to hide

Setting powder is to set your makeup in place a finishing powder is meant to give you a blurred effect to the skin and looks like skin without looking flat and dusty almost like when using a setting powder you almost need to top it with a misting spray to melt it in to your skin to make it look more natural and not dry but you won't find that problem with a finishing powder . As an MA i typically use setting powder on oily skin types and finishing on any skin type except oily types .

Finishing powders are literally meant to use to buff and blend everything together. Think of it like how we do under painting and put a tiny amount of liquid foundation on to blend it. That’s what a finishing powder does. It’s finished the look. It mimics the way skin is supposed to look. Like everything is coming from within

Yea as a makeup artist I use a lot of different powders but I don’t love this application unless you are touching up your makeup. The setting powder improves the look of your skin while this finishing powder just completely mattified the dewy look you had.

Rare beauty has mid products except for the blushes. But now even the blushes aren't safe cuz there are one with the same and better formulas for competitive prices. But their aesthetic packaging looks nice on the makeup counter I'll give them that

I only use setting powders on top of my foundations. I have extremely oily skin and live in the Caribbean.
Using powder foundations after my setting powders have taken my makeup to the next LEVEL...FLAWLESS❤

You’re right they are different, but to be honest the makeup industry makes a lot of products that are almost identical in nature but market them differently - so people feel like they need to buy multiple products. When in reality you can use one product a multitude of ways. Yes finishing powders and setting powders are different but a finishing powder will work just fine to set your make up. I’m Lebanese and oily and just ran out of my Huda. I’ve been using my charlotte till berry compact to set my makeup. It doesn’t prevent oil the way baking would but it does surprisingly well. I’m a performer at night and it’s lasted through that. You can use a shiny lipstick as high lighter, eyeshadow for practically anything. You don’t need a million products unless it’s just a want. Any ways though Lebanese brown girl here 🇱🇧❤️ love your channel and talk about undertone. Being half Lebanese and a quarter Portuguese and a quarter Irish my undertone is extremely hard to place 😇 so love your work

I personally use setting powder to finish the make up look. And the finishing powder is for whenever I had to touch up my make up to get rid of the oiliness or fix the imperfections of my make up when I go out. I always have finishing powder in my bag/purse 😊. I have combination skin and living in a tropical country, make up under the sun for too long kinda bring the oiliness of my skin 😅
