Direct from enormously acclaimed runs in London, Edinburgh and beyond, Complicite theater company’s THE ENCOUNTER comes to Broadway this fall on a tidal wave of rave reviews for a strictly limited engagement. Conceived, directed and performed by Simon McBurney, this is an encounter you’ll never forget.

Be prepared for a truly original and astonishing night of theater: Once you take your seat, your senses will be engaged in breathtaking ways. Through the use of innovative aural technology and virtuosic storytelling, Simon McBurney leads you on an epic journey from the intimacy of his home in London to deep into the Amazon rainforest.

THE ENCOUNTER tells the true story of National Geographic photographer Loren McIntyre lost in a remote area of Brazil in 1969, which leads to a startling encounter that is to change his life. But it simultaneously plunges you into a visceral inner voyage. As McIntyre’s mesmerizing tale reaches its climax, this extraordinary performance asks some of the most urgent questions of today: about how we live and what we believe to be true.

I just saw it and although the the audio effects were good, the politics (that they are quiet about in the advertising) shot it in the foot. I go to the theater to be entertained, not to be preached at with "White man bring death!" And "Climate change is real!"
