What’s better then two characters fighting, two characters fighting while singing.

Out of all the prisoners he chooses to go after, the one who took some bread was at the top of his list.

the worst part about being single is having to sing both parts by myself

I’m SO GLAD the movie cut Valjean singing over Javert’s line about how he was born poor like Valjean; I never knew that because of the singing overlay and it adds so much to Javert!

Just noticed:

Javert is singing about how men like Jean can’t change, but by the end, it’s shown that Jean can change with the world around him while Javert is actually the one who can’t change or accept change at all.

To quote Aladdin - “All this for a loaf of bread?”

I never noticed how cool it is that Valjean escapes by jumping into the river and swimming away with Javert being unable to follow because he can't swim, foreshadowing his suicide by jumping into the Seine!

The thing about Crowe is he's in tune, he knows how to phrase his melodies, but he's using a different style, trained in the rock and folk

The way Jackman sings “All I did was steal some bread” makes me laugh maniacally every time

1:05 The Way Russell Crowe says “24601” is so satisfying

I loved Russell Crowe as Javert. His voice was totally convincing of a ruthless inspector who knows nothing of humanity beyond what he perceives is lawful.

I think Russel Crowe interpreted Javert very well, the facial expressions, the tone very formal but which still conveys the emotions felt by the character.

Hugh Jackman and Russel Crowe really put on a fantastic performance!

I genuinely love how Valjean keeps the fight away from the nurses and other patients. Javert I think couldn't have cared less.

I think Crowe does this song perfectly, he has a really authoritative voice. I also like how they cut valjeans line when javert sings “you know nothing of javert...”

Valjean, at last,
We see each other plain
'm'sieur le mayor, '
You'll wear a different chain
Before you say another word, Javert
Before you chain me up like a slave again
Listen to me! there is something I must do
This woman leaves behind a suffering child
There is none, but me who can intercede
In mercy's name, three days are all I need
Then I'll return, I pledge my word
Then I'll return
You must think me mad
I've hunted you across the years
Men like you can never change
A man such as you.
Believe of me what you will (men like you can never change)
There is a duty that I'm sworn to do (men like me can never change)
You know nothing of my life (no, 24601)
All I did was steal some bread (my duty's to the law)
You know nothing of the world (you have no rights)
You would sooner see me dead (come with me 24601)
But not before I see this justice done (now the wheel has turned around Jean Valjean is nothing now)
I am warning you Javert (dare you talk to me of crime)
I'm a stronger man by far (I'm the price you had to pay)
There is power in me yet (every man is born in sin)
My race is not yet run (every man must choose his way)
You know nothing of Javert
I was born inside a jail
I was born with scum like you
I am from the gutter too!

"You know nothing of Javert I was born inside a jail I was born with scum like you I am from a gutter too"
This line adds so much to the character of Javert.
