Why is this even a conversation?! Harden may be the better shooter/scorer, but that’s where his value ends. Giannis has been better all around, has led his team to best record in the league and Milwaukee would be floundering without him.

Yes, Harden has been putting up historical numbers. Yes, he dragged the Rockets from the cellar to the postseason (top 4 seed in the West). Giannis has been dominating all season. And once Milwaukee overtook Toronto in the standings, they never looked back.

I won’t go ga-ga over offence. Giannis is your MVP. Take that to the bank!

Giannis is the MVP because the award doesn’t just choose the best player, il looks for the best player on the best team as well as a good storyline for the NBA. It’s a better storyline saying this humble, poor, Greek phenom won MVP than a guy who goes around flipping all over the court. Also, James Harden should have more assists than that considering how much he has the ball in his hand. Harden is the better scorer, not player

Of course it is Giannis Antetokoumpo!!! Over the last decade the MVP award has always gone to the best player on the team with the most wins most of the time. Except like how you highlighted here, stats arent everything. I believe Giannis's activity and defense just put him ahead of Harden. Although I believe Harden will believe this is his 2nd snub. It should only be his first snub but hey at least he knows this time around he is going to lose to the better player.

One thing you didn't mention (loved the video) -- there's an entertainment element to the MVP discussion. As much as Harden scores, and as funny as his occasional stepbacks can be, it frankly sucks to watch him play 80% of the time, because it's just pure iso ball, where he dribbles for 18 seconds and then either shoots a 3 or draws cheap fouls. Giannis is actually fun to watch.

Giannis is my pick due to his teams incredible record, leading in all the most recognized stats and pure playing style. Harden is a stat padder to an extent and he's played to many minutes. The defense separates them as well though Hardens D has improved it's no where near the Greek freaks.

Yeah Giannis is the MVP to me although it’s super close. If gravity was a box score stat he’d be leading the league by a mile, you either have to throw 3-5 defenders at him and hope his teammates just won’t hit open shots, or guard him with 1 dude and have Giannis ruin his entire life. He also has to be like the easiest player to build a team around. Just get him shooters who are willing to play defense (doesn’t matter if they’re good, just willing to put in effort) and a coach who isn’t Jason Kidd and you’ve got a great team.

Giannis is the MVP because while James Harden is better at one on one and isolation situations, both are able to dominate at the offensive end AND Giannis also plays way better defense. Opposing teams have to scheme to keep him at bay on defense when they want to score, otherwise he will just block the shot or steal the ball and think nothing of it. Does that sound like something Harden is known for?
