The most amazing thing about this movie was that it was actually developed at another studio who traded it Paramount for another film before they thought Forest Gump was going to be a flop. And the other movie was Executive Decision.

What entertainment executives lack in imagination, knowledge, and expertise, they make up for with greed, incompetence, and ego.
A high level executive wanted to eliminate Spock's ears because it resembled the devil. Another wanted to remove the song "Moon River". Every time they chase "the younger audience" they destroy a landmark classic.
