#NASA Astronaut Don Pettit Launches to #ISS on #Soyuz MS-26 🚀 #DonPettit

NASA astronaut Don Pettit, known for his stunning space photography, makes his fourth journey to space aboard the Soyuz MS-26 spacecraft! On September 11, 2024, Pettit launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome alongside Russian cosmonauts Alexey Ovchinin and Ivan Vagner for a mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

Pettit, who describes space as his "home away from home," will spend the mission capturing new images of the Earth, auroras, and phenomena like STEVE (Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement). This exciting launch marks the start of Expedition 72, with Pettit looking forward to using new camera technology to capture breathtaking imagery from space.

In addition to his scientific goals, Pettit designed the Expedition 72 mission patch, inspired by the simplicity of the original Expedition 1 patch. The new design reflects the current configuration of the space station, including the iROSA solar panel upgrades.
