Me and my mom actually talked about this recently. And we came to the conclusion that the confederacy would not have lasted with the new states that would have been added cutting away from the states and starting an endless cycle of civil wars. We also determined due to the unrest of the states due to the civil wars they would have not fought in the world wars.

I think the south also would have industrialized and when the new industrial revolution hit the south they would have abolished slavery around the late 1870s - 1880s voluntarily.

Not sure why Lincoln would have to flee, the Confederate leadership had no plans of revenge only independence. If the south kept it southern identify and heritage like the old antebellum south, they may would have prospered, especially with the discovery of oil and other resources. Honestly I feel like the confederacy would have been like a Prussia of America. More militaristic but remain a republic.

Don't think they would just unite they would probably fight over with policies they unite under like north and south Korea north and south vietnam

I kinda doubt they would have gradually abolished slavery. I mean maybe? But we still do slavery in prisons today, and american companies use slave labor abroad.
