What if the Confederacy Had its Own Civil War | FAN SCENARIO

When the South seceded from the Union upon the outbreak of the Civil War, many in the new Confederate States were actually very divided on the issue of secession. In Northern Georgia and Alabama, Eastern Tennessee, and Western Arkansas, many anti-slavery anti-secessionists fought back against the idea of breaking from the United States. But, in the end, these states would end up seceding, as many of these people would go on to fight for the South, not for slavery, but for their home. But, what if, in an alternate timeline, these regions broke away from their states, in favor of the Union? Enjoy!

Suggestion: what if the Polish-Lithuanian-Ruthenian Commonwealth was actually formed

If I remember my history correctly, East Tennessee actually considered pulling a West Virginia and seceding from the rest of Tennessee, but decided against it because unlike West Virginia, they would have been surrounded on all sides by Confederate territory, which obviously would have spelled doom for them.

There was a civil war in the Confederacy. Over 100, 000 Southerners fought for the Union. Nearly half of Virginia split off from the Commonwealth to remain in the Union. A large portion of Tennessee was loyal to the Union. Lenape natives in North Carolina remained loyal to the Union.

The South practically did have one particularly in the state my ancestors lived in at the time, Missouri. It had a Confederate and Union government, militia units on both sides. Even the Confederate state of Tennessee was split.

3:59 Why are you putting shade on Grant? He was a great General, not withstanding the high casualties he sustained, because he was one of the first users of the 'Total War' doctrine. Even early on in the Civil War, his actions in the Western Theater were praised by most, including Abraham Lincoln.

I'm honestly shocked that this did not happen given the big range of the political spectrum at work within the confederacy

In this scenario James Longstreet probably still joins the Confederate army since he was born in South Carolina and raised in Georgia

Grant WAS a capable general in his own right who understood the value of logistics. Jackson and Lee were decent commanders of their time but neither paid much attention to the strategic side of the war. And the casualty figures Lee took while in charge of the Army of Northern Virginia were slightly worse than Grant.

The USA: This is getting really out of hand. Now there are two of them.

Lee didn't have much political ambitions, although the same could be said about Grant prior to the war.

And will this have effects on the French intervention in Mexico? The point is that even if the civil war ended much earlier, the need of resources and manpower within the country for the reconstruction will be the first priority. And with the moderate reconstruction went as Lincoln planned here, it is most likely that the Maximilian will be crowned as the Emperor of Mexico because the U.S in this timeline will be focusing more on the reconstruction and will needed all resources available and all manpower it can get to enforce Lincoln's policy. This also means that even if France lost the Franco-Prussian War, Napoleon III will most likely still remained in power due to his success in Mexico.
