What's Up Flow Showers,

Following up on last week's video, where we looked at 5 full suspension 29er trail bikes for less than $2500, this week, we are taking the same look at #directtoconsumer bikes of the same variety. 2021 bikes are on the way, but mostly not in stock yet. However, if you're comfortable with doing your own maitenence and don't mind a more challenging warranty process, you should be able to get a better spec bike for the same price. Check out this week's video to see just how much better! Make sure to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE and comment below if you've ridden any of these bikes or have any experience with these DTC brands.

Shout out to Charlottesville from RVA! 😁 Glad to see someone covering the direct to consumer brands. Don't sleep on Motobecane bikes from Bikes Direct. I have a Motobecane HAL Boost Pro that I paid exactly $2500 for in Nov. 2019. What did I get for my money?
150mm Rockshox Pike Select+ front shock with Charger 2 damper.
FULL SRAM X01 drivetrain with carbon cranks
Shimano XT brakes with 180mm rotors
KS dropper post
Rockshox Monarch rear shock with 140mm travel
Aluminum frame is made by Kinesis with modern geometry: 66 degree head tube angle, 74.3 seat tube angle, and a reach/top tube length that matches the big brands.
DT Swiss M1900 boost wheelset
Bike weighed 30.5lbs out of the box

People can't believe that you can get a quality FS MTB spec'd so high for that low of a price because they so used to paying $4000+ for the same spec'd bike from a bike shop or from a famous direct brand. They believe that there must be a catch like the frame must be garbage. Frame is made by Kinesis and rolled off the same assembly line as the frames they make for Felt, Santa Cruz, Trek, Kona, Commencal, etc. These are just their own frame designs being sold with small margins to Bikes Direct. Brand name on the downtube = massive markup. OEMs also get severe discounts on components which also are part of the massive markup in price. Bikes Direct/Kinesis are just willing to take a much smaller profit margin from each bike than the name brands. The big brands are maximizing the perception of a premium product by having a high price point like Apple does.

I'm not a shill for Bikes Direct. I only mention this because people never consider Motobecane bikes when comparing specs and prices because it seems too good to be true. I admit that Bikes Direct has a wonky, ancient looking website and they do sell some low end garbage but their high end FS, carbon, and titanium bikes are 100% legit.

Radon slide 8, 0? Seems to me like a good spec but there isn’t a hole lot of reviews out there.
