I got the 1tb for $90 during a sale and I love this thing. It's fast and just really convenient for moving files.

I've had my 2TB Samsung T7 for 2 years now. Best external SSD I've ever owned. Hasn't failed me once.

Own the t7 for over a year now, never had a problem with it, security works perfect but it can get warm when you’re pushing it, just wonder with that rubber coating will it get even hotter ?

The main reason that the performance isn’t upgraded is the confusing generation of USB. For now, the fastest is thunderbolt with 2700mb/s write speed. Then it’s 2000mb/s write speed on 20gbps usb 3.2 gen2x2. However, this 20gbps speed can’t be achieved on thunderbolt port. It will run at 10Gbps on thunderbolt port. Next is the 10Gbps of this Samsung t7 shield. Therefore, the performance upgrade truly makes sense is thunderbolt. However, now thunderbolt external SSD costs 3 times this Samsung t7 shield at same capacity.

Think that so called throttling you're talking about is cache, once that is filled it start to write to the actual flash storage and then it becomes slow. I don't really think this has anything to do with heat. But that's just my 2c.It's just cheaper for companies to add little fast flash to their drives and get ahead in the benchmark. Making it seem that their drive is faster. While it might actually be slower. This usually shows in bigger file transfers.

Nice Review! I really appreciate that the T7 Shield not having the rugged look like the Sandisk equivalents do. It is a bit disappointing that Samsung hasn’t released an updated SSD with 20gbps connection and 4TB capacity like Sandisk.

Nobody ever mentions how the corrugated design helps stiffen it from twisting and helps prevent compression on the large surfaces.

I like how it looks like a AR15 magazine! I love my new T7 Shield! Now if they only made them 15TB so I don't have to buy so many of them cuase I need 12TB to backup all my data I have on 6 HDDs.

some users advised that we should not use the T7 Shield internal software locking. because if you do, you can't unlock the security using iPads. but for pc or mac, no problem though.

I love Samsung's SSDs. They are so compact, small, durable and secure.

Maybe middle of the road on speed, but one of the most reliable you can have imo.

I need a portable ssd for taking videos and pictures with my Samsung s22 ultra out in the field. I was only able to get the 128gb storage s22 ultra and it's already 80% full. I found the 1TB T7 shield for $100. Is this the best portable option for me around $100?

When will we get SSD T9 ❓️

durability shielding seems pointless since it has a regular USB-C port.. that's the part that could actually break/fail. I had a ruggedized phone once and the part that ended up breaking on it was the charging port.
