Mozart & the Horn

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart had a special connection with the horn, composing some of the most significant works for the instrument in the Classical repertoire. This bond was influenced by his friendship with Joseph Leutgeb, a virtuoso horn player who was a close friend of Mozart and the dedicatee of several of his compositions. Mozart's works for the horn showcase its lyrical and virtuosic qualities, pushing the limits of what was possible on the natural horn of the time.

Such wondrous music! The greatest kudos is all for Mozart, of course, but I would also like to comment on the fabulous performances of the hornists. I have played the horn a bit myself, and these virtuosos' mastery is awe-inspiring.

Each time I listen to the W.A Mozart Horn Concertos, I feel uplifting, moved, and so I reckon that all these pieces are so melodious sounds!!!

What was so special about this man Mozart and his music. This what I am listening to now is so simple, but it cheers me and gives me so good feeling. I don't know. BC used to have a reasonable number of ads discretely placed to avoid interrupting the music. Now there are far more, every 5-6 minutes, crassly breaking into the music. That's what I would call barbaric.

The historically correct order is 2, 4, 3, 1. The last concerto (no. 1) is incomplete, that's why there are only 2 movements. BTW I love these recordings with Herman Jeurissen.

1:15:20 I know that Mozart filled the score with some hilarious insults in Italian to make fun of his friend Leutgeb, but listening to this guy reading them is annoying. He's not funny at all, he's ridiculous.
