We lost my MIL to cancer in 2020, just a few days before my BIL’s wedding. She was a fantastic lady, and the turnout to her memorial was huge (school gave her students time off to attend if they wanted—the crowd spilled out of the cathedral and into the lobby.) I consider myself a docile person, but if someone had said something like this to me or my husband leading up to either of our weddings, they’d leave with my hand print on their face.

Years ago, my boyfriend asked my father on a Friday night if he could propose to me. My sister, 3 years younger, heard and literally ran to the court house on the next business day to get married to her boyfriend. When we announced our pregnancy, my sister stopped taking birth control to get pregnant the next month, she admitted to this. She is always trying to "steal the thunder." I think it is sad.

Also, I’m truly sorry about your dad. I lost my dad to colon cancer years ago. He was my best friend and always will be. It’ll get easier, but you never forget them. ❤️

I literally *gasp* in my office on my lunch break while hearing the first story! I cannot believe that "friend" said that about her father! My father passed when I was in college so he never knew my husband or his family as we didn't get together until I was 29. I would have given anything to have done a big wedding celebration with my father and all of my friends would have stood next to me with all the support they could give. So glad OP cut ties with that monstrosity of a "friend."

I lost my mom in August. It was unexpected, but fortunately I had gotten the chance to gift her a wonderful experience meeting her favorite actor in June. Sharing that with her so soon before I lost her was priceless. Today is her birthday. If someone disrespected her... OP was so far from a bridezilla I can't believe it. She has 100k friends now and I hope she is able to put her attention on exploring her own interests. The best ways to make friends.
