Boss Seal REFUSES To Be Rescued

Most of Ocean Conservation Namibia's seal rescues follow the same playbook. When massive seal bulls need to be saved, there is no protocol to follow. This particular seal made it very clear from the beginning that he is the boss, and it took the rescuers several attempts to finally get him into the rescue net. He bit the ring of the net, he shook it off several times, he was not willing to comply in any way. Luckily Naude and his team have a lot of experience with this situation and they managed to seat him properly in the net. They caught their own breath, and they cut the piece of packaging strap loose. They struggled just as much to get him out of the net, but eventually he was allowed to go back to the ocean.
Antoine seems to be OCN's lucky or unlucky charm - since got back from Sea Shepherd, he had been part of two rescues with massive seal bulls.

Nobody is safe from plastic pollution and ocean rubbish, not even a prime alpha seal like this one. Our ocean has turned into a garbage patch, and there is no possibility to simply clean it up. We are in trouble. 🦭

And that it breaks my heart ❤️ to see what is happening and the suffering that they go through from no fault of there own . These people that discard all this rubbish should be made accountable for it and the suffering to these poor seals . I only wish that I was young again and to be able to help ….

Usually the seals relax when the strap is cut, but this giant did not. Naudé and crew really had their work cut out for them today. Well done for persevering! I have never seen a rescue where the seal shakes the net round and chuck it away with disdain like this guy did!

Naude you're a beast, going toe to toe with the seal and keeping the net on him. And finally getting him in it to help him. I would have been winded after the first try. Mother nature has definitely given her animals a lot of power. 3 grown men to one seal and it was still a struggle. WOW. Thanks for doing what you guys do to help and save these poor animals.
