My back doctor literally told me when I was like 13 "dont you want to impress the boys?" Needless to say.. we have never returned to that doctor ever again..

My GP for trans stuff said that the first thing he notices about trans guys when we get top surgery is that we get taller😂 Almost instantly improved posture. Said it's a combination of not trying to hide physically, and not trying to hide emotionally. Thought that was nice.

People: shoulders back and push out your chest, you're always slouching

Me: yeah no, fuck that

my boyfriend is gonna get it in like three weeks. he’s so exited, wish him luck.

update: i didn't expect so many replies, but since a lot of people asked, everything went well, both in the operation itself and in the process of healing. he's really happy with the results and the doctor says everything went smoothly. thanks to everyone giving nice wishes to him and also thanks to the idiots saying things like 'i hope it goes wrong/i hope he regrets it', he got a laugh out of you.

Okay, i do this all the time. I wear extra baggy shirts and feel like a mf hyena or something because i always kinda fold in on myself

I had to go to physical therapy for a long time because I didnt get top surgery until i was 40. (That and wearing too tight bras for decades). The hunch can cause so much pain if you do it for too long.

As an afab nonbinary person who has dysphoria, this is so true. I literally hide in my clothes.

the problem is that also screws with the more masculine physicality my actor friends suggested i try, which is "shoulders back, chest puffed with confidence, walk with purpose" so i end up alternating both 🙃

As a trans teen, this video is my entire posture

I used to fall into this posture constantly to minimize chest visibility!!! I'm a cis woman, I grew very small breasts, and the media/pop culture wasted no time making me very self conscious of them not being bigger.

I’m cis female, but I do this as well because I’m really self-conscious of how big my breasts are.
Hope everyone living with dysphoria gets the hormone treatment/gender-affirming surgery they need to feel comfortable in their bodies; you guys (in a non-gender specific way) are so strong and amazing!!!!

“Its 90 degrees out. Why do you have on a heavy jacket?”
Me: “I have my reasons” *also slouching*

This is one of the main reasons I was able to get my surgery moved up. I was in a wreck that severely broke my upper back, causing me to need spinal rods to stabilize my spine and prevent paralysis. Because of the rods, I couldn't wear a binder because of the pressure it put on them, which meant that I had to slouch to hide my chest even more than someone that wears a binder, which obviously caused a LOT of damage to my spine. My rods had already started curving forward due to malpractice during my recovery, but having to slouch constantly made it so much worse (I lost over 3" in height in under 3 years because of it) and caused my vertebrae to rapidly degenerate. Because of that, getting top surgery as soon as possible was necessary for my physical health, so I was able to get it just a month or so after I got my letters and the physical exam. I can't reverse the immense damage done to my spine from having to slouch, but at least it won't get as much worse as it would have if I hadn't got top surgery when I did.

Mtf can absolutely relate, done the exact same thing for the opposite reason. My neck still jerks and my shoulders recently fully relaxed for the first time in like 10 years and i was like 😮‍💨 the relief of your body not naturally scrunching up to hide yourself is soemthing else.

If you see a transphobe in the comments or replies simply reply to them and ask "do u like paper mario?"

Trans girls: puff out chest, straighten back

I’ve noticed that exact posture in taller people. I’m the shorter one in my immediate family, and the only one who doesn’t tend to slouch. I think it’s basically anxiety about being noticed and/or taking up space
