I'm an LA woman. I knew all his old haunts. The vibe at that time was incredibly creative and energetic.

Well, I just got into town about an hour ago
Took a look around, see which way the wind blow
Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows
Are you a lucky little lady in the city of light
Or just another lost angel, city of night
City of night, city of night, city of night, woo, come on
L.A. woman, L.A. woman
L.A. woman Sunday afternoon
L.A. woman Sunday afternoon
L.A. woman Sunday afternoon
Drive through your suburbs
Into your blues, into your blues, yeah
Into your blue-blue blues
Into your blues, oh, yeah
I see your hair is burnin'
Hills are filled with fire
If they say I never loved you
You know they are a liar
Drivin' down your freeways
Midnight alleys roam
Cops in cars, the topless bars
Never saw a woman
So alone, so alone
So alone, so alone
Motel money murder madness
Let's change the mood from glad to sadness
Mister mojo risin', mister mojo risin'
Mister mojo risin', mister mojo risin'
Got to keep on risin'
Mister mojo risin', mister mojo risin'
Mojo risin', gotta mojo risin'
Mister mojo risin', gotta keep on risin'
Risin', risin'
Gone risin', risin'
I'm gone risin', risin'
I gotta risin', risin'
Well, risin', risin'
I gotta, wooo, yeah, risin'
Woah, ohh yeah
Well, I just got into town about an hour ago
Took a look around, see which way the wind blow
Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows
Are you a lucky little lady in the city of light
Or just another lost angel, city of night
City of night, city of night, city of night, whoa, come on
L.A. woman, L.A. woman
L.A. woman, you're my woman
Little L.A. woman, little L.A. woman
L.A. L.A. woman woman
L.A. woman, come on

The metaphor of the city of Los Angeles as a woman he loves is just beyond FANTASTIC! When he sings the line....I SEE YOUR HAIR IS BURNING....HILLS ARE FILLED WITH singing about WILD FIRES that were burning in the hills outside of LA while they were recording this song! He’s also referencing the 1963 novel CITY OF NIGHT which is about the seedy underbelly of LA that comes out at night, and also about the loneliness at the heart of a big city, just fantastic stuff! Long live the doors!

I’ve been driving for 46 years, every road trip I’ve taken the last 35 years, this is the first song I play once I hit 70mph. Loud, loud loud! Thanks for the greatest memories!

My brother was a diehard Doors fan, had his face tattooed in his leg and I remember growing up as a kid hearing Doors songs playing over in his room, my bro had a hard life dealing with drugs and later schizophrenia which culminated with him taking is own life back in 2015 . Love you Brother wherever you are 😔❤️

This song is the perfect example of "The Doors"... It has all the different aspects that I love about them. Trippy, bluesy, poetic magic.

At least we still have classics like this to listen to. Today's music can't hold a candle to this song.

When I came home from Okinawa in 1973, the pilot played this LOUDLY as we approached LAX. At night, the city lights were astounding...great memory!
