Here in Brazil we an instrument called Viola that has 10 strings, doubled 5. It's very popular in our country music, mainly those produced years ago

In mexico, these guitars are called as "requinto" or "docerola", its very common to make corrido songs

I had a twelve string Washburn guitar and I loved waking up and playing it as I drank my coffee and watched the sun come up on my back step.

Something I did, which I prefer tbh, is I put the low strings on top of the high strings so its easier to play the low strings and it sounds a tad darker
