You get various pro wrestlers and other combat stars as the shows uniquely designed warriors before coming to the plot of the book/film.

So we see the beginning of the games and see how, over time, the game is upgraded over the series run.

With the right creative force behind the show warriors designs, it could last a long time as a series before reaching the plot of the book/film, displaying a wide range of warriors from warriors who use muscle and training to the rise of warriors who use technology to give unique powers.
