8 gigs and 256 storage isn’t enough, 16 and 512 config cost just a little less than the base 14 inch MacBook …this m2 pro doesn’t make any sense, might as well get the air and bump up the specs

Recently picked up the M1 Pro 14” MacBook Pro. My first MacBook Pro and I’m completely blown away! Honestly any Mac should be enough for photo editing, light code learning, etc. But with this machine I think ill be set for the foreseeable future.

This is the best perspective I’ve seen from tech YouTubers the last few months. People don’t upgrade their macs (typically) every year. So this is a huge leap for those looking to update. Great work.

One group of customers for the 13” MacBook Pro that isn’t discussed much among Youtubers is the corporate market. When my (very large) tech company decided to allow Macs in 2017, the 13” MacBook Pro was the laptop on offer from procurement. At the time they were considered to be more durable than the blade-like MacBook Air, had better performance and longer battery life. And when you are buying thousands or tens of thousands of units, things like this matter. Of course as they were configured, the cost was close enough to $2, 000 each so by the time the decision had been made to allow Apple Silicon units to be approved, they just went ahead and got 14” MacBook Pros. It’s the base binned model but the screen is gorgeous and I snapped one up to replace my original 2017 Intel based machine.

I love how little apple cares about the M2 13” MacBook Pro. They didn’t even go to the effort of changing the box design

I wonder if Apple is market testing the M2 MacBook Air up against the entry 13 inch pro with the Touch Bar to see if people are willing to let go of the "Pro" moniker and have the M2 MacBook Air serve both the consumer and prosumer audiences because it's totally capable of doing so. Remember, the last time they tried to get rid of a product category (the MacBook Air) it totally backfired on them and they ended up having to back track after people didn't go for the 12 inch MacBook. It seems they are now being cautious and are letting the consumers decide a product line's fate (RIP HomePod, iPod touch, etc). If sales drop enough on the entry 13 inch Pro they may discontinue it. If enough people still purchase it, I can see them having two “SE” type models in the line up with this 13 inch MacBook Pro and the M1 MacBook Air.

I have a late 2017 Macbook Pro with touch bar and I can't even use Adobe Premiere Pro/After Effects interchangeably without it starting to freeze. I feel like I'm a good candidate for this M2 MBP solely because I enjoy this design, I have all the peripherals necessary like a hub, and I need that spec boost without breaking the bank.

To be honest? this Macbook is for people like me, people that want the most efficient chip and live in a hot environment so want a fan that can dissipate all the heat from the chassis, i waited for this for a long time being sure it would ditch the hated touchbar and maybe would give people a way to recharge the laptop from both sides but alas... gotta wait and hope for another cycle...

I bought the M1 13” MacBook Pro thinking it might be the last opportunity to get the Touch Bar. I was wrong, but the M2 model doesn’t do anything to warrant an upgrade for me.

I recently got the MacBook Pro M1 Pro. I love it, but I can't imagine the M2 version being worth it to upgrade over. I would recommend getting the RAM upgrade to 32GB. I'm a software developer who uses Docker and it eats up all of the RAM.

At this point, you kind of have to assume that apple just has a surplus of those body/shells and Touch Bars and they're just trying to burn through them by just swapping the processor to the newest thing until they finally burn through inventory.
