Apple dropped the ball with this one. From the get go, the 13” Pro seemed like a nonsensical machine that exists just to try to clear out inventory. The fact that they also gimped the SSDs is just the cherry on top.

It’s really hard to justify getting this or the Air if you need 16gb ram and 512 gb ssd. The 14” refurbished or discounted seems like a way better buy.

For average users or even advanced ones, M1 Macbook Air is still the best laptop you can buy in that price range especially if you can grab some discount

It would interesting to know if the 512gb version has 2 x 256gb modules or one 512gb module. In other words will speed improve or be slower than an M1 512 GB version?

The 'dirtiest' trick was releasing this more expensive model FIRST, Apple knowing full damn well that the base drive is slower, and letting people buy it. Let that sink

Shocking, absolutely shocking. What were they thinking, not pro, not even up to the new MacBook Air or the Old M1 MacBook Pro by any important measure. Really 1/2 Speed SSD from an 18 month old product. OMG

Single chip SSD is a hard no for me. Not only because of the abysmal performance but the potential for this to die quicker down the line.

The improved webcam quality may be due to a better image signal processor, not a software patch.
