How does the Energy Mizer save money when the watts are the same with the device on and off? I understand that it reduces the current but the power company charges residential customers’ base off kwh. Power is W = VxI; however, this is for DC applications. The true power for AC application is P = VI x pf, therefore, by decreasing the current and increasing the pf makes the watts remain the same. Now the apparent power would decrease but the true power doesn’t.

Aggie:  As I understand it,   Power factor is the efficiency in which the appliance can use the power.  A power factor of .42 means that the motor is using 42 cents on every dollar being pulled through the meter.  The motor is using 114 watts but the 114 watts is 42% of the power being pulled through the meter. So if the power demand is 114 watts, it now needs to pull 271.42 watts of electricity to get it.  By increasing the power factor to .95 means that the motor now only needs to pull 120 watts to get it.  To say that this technology doesn't decrease consumption is to say that Energy Star is the biggest scam in the world.  To give a relevant example, I replaced all of my appliances with Energy Star appliances and my power bill dropped by 15%.  Capacitor technology has been used for decades to save on energy. This isnt anything new.  I just got done looking over the white paper for this product and its pretty damned legit.  What is unclear to me still is how they are reducing the EMF.

In short, the measuring device is reading the watt consumption of the motor itself and not how much is being pulled through the meter to obtain it.

This product does not save power. It just changes the power factor to produce more amps. The Kwhr consumption does not change; in fact it will increase consumption because the of the additional circuitry to the system. Basically a crappy magic show.
