Freshman year, second semester. My alarm clock failed to go off on final exam day for a relatively dumb, but necessary and only offered once per year engineering course. I woke up 45 minutes into a two hour exam period refreshed, then had a mini heart attack, and proceeded to run 2 miles across campus in 16 minutes. I completed about three quarters of the exam and managed to pass the class.

And he was fucking right, the highest score was 53, average was around 30.

I once had a professor during COVID where in order to prevent cheating from our laptops at home he just made the test open internet and open book.

The average was actually lower that year than the previous years.

My favorite part about college is how you have to work on top of classes and you're so poor you eat 1 meal a day and fight to the death with your roommates over a can of beans, and everyone just says "🤷" why the fuck is this normal?

Engineering professors: "I've decided to write an exam paper where the questions are not only very difficult and in multiple parts but also super poorly worded so that you will have to spend a lot of your exam time just trying to piece together what the question is actually asking you. I've also made the questions in a way that they feel underspecified and you are going to have to go out on a limb and make doubtful assumptions about the system just so that you can begin doing calculations. I wanted to be a biologist/doctor/whatever biological to be an evil superbio terrorist, but I only manage to get to study Civil Engineering. I hate it so much, but I tried my best to ace it with the thought I can be a normal ambitionless engineer that still chase his insane dream when im done studying. Or Im gonna quit, drop everything, my study or work, family, friends, my possesion but only a wallet with my identification and a phone to go on a one-way journey to Mongolia alone to either learn the meaning of life in death or the meaning of worldly suffering, gain enlightenment and ascend as a buddha.
