Beating Burn Out as a Product Photographer - 4 Ways to find Work Life Balance in Your Business!

Burnout is REAL and it can be really difficult to balance your work and personal life again when you're in such a busy period of your business.
I actually think burn out is kind of a necessary evil to go through as a product photographer as it teaches you where your boundaries are and it causes us to make drastic change in our business and personal life.

These work life balance tips have helped me along my journey of shooting product photography at home and ensuring that I'm still enjoying my life and I'm not stressed out and anxious majority of the time.

Thank you Amanda this video was needed. This is my most busy moment of the year and I feel out of energy.

Thank you for sharing this, Amanda! I’m learning that rest is essential, with the culture of the “hustle” mentality, being overly productive is the cause of burnouts. Rest and taking care of your mental health is crucial for work. When you feel your best, your work will be its best.

I've found 3 shoots a week is my max and 2 a week is preferable. I do portraits, branding and weddings. August this year has been my biggest month by far with sessions and that's because i booked portrait model calls as i didnt have anything to advertise with. I ended up doing 11 shoots total in both model calls, brand sessions and a wedding and that was after multiple model call cancellations on the clients end but that turned out to be enough for me. i constantly hear about photographers burning out and im determined to not be one of them.

I've been doing real estate photography for eleven years now. I grew the business from the ground up with no help. to put things with perspective I lived with family for a number of years before I could handle my expenses. I've raised my prices gradually but I'm still not as comfortable as I think I should be. I'm working seven days a week and 70 or more hours. I fell into this trade though the help of another photographer. Now that eleven years of gone buy I'm considering walking away from it. I'm just so exhausted and other than taking care of my finances I have only some wisdom and skill to show for it. I was thinking about raising my prices so I can work fewer hours by taking less clients. Does this make sense to do this?

What do you think I should do?

Hi Amanda,

I've been watching your videos for a while now, Great stuff and very motivating!
I was wondering what's the process of sharing the final photos with clients in terms of formats, specs and through what, would be nice if you
could share your knowledge about this specific subject :)
