two desks, a couch, a TV, dining table into this small space floor plan, can you solve it?

I definitely agree that this flows better but I also understand the need for the two separate desks. It's not that he probably couldn't do his work at his gaming desk, it's probably that he needs to separation of space for gaming and for work so that he's not tempted to game or thinking about that while he needs to be working. Or alternatively, thinking about work when he's supposed to be relaxing. I have two separate setups for the same reason (one for gaming, one for art) and they aren't even in the same room

I'm nearly the same, but having everything right against the window wall creates dead-end nooks, which can make you feel trapped. Moving everything two feet would create an island that is centered in the space with room to move around; thus making the whole thing feel more open and balanced. Plus it's gonna be more comfortable when you open the windows and don't sit right at the edge of the room.

I considered this one, but don't think it's optimal. If the client has two desks - one for working and one for gaming - then I'd wager this is likely because they are trying to create separation between working and gaming space. The plan shown here puts both desks side to side, which blurs that separation: No good.

With that in mind, I'd put both desks facing eachother against the verandah window, closed in by the couch and with the TV on the bathroom wall. The gaming desk would be the one in the command position, as everything else seems to be of less priority here.

This would allow the client to create a dedicated psychological space where they come to relax after a hard day at work, benefiting their ability to relax.

one consideration I had was - if one desk is for work and the other for leisure, would it be sensible to spatially separate them?

I think there should be some sort of divider between the two desks to separate the gaming/work energy.

I would do the same but the couch and tables shifted slightly to allow walkable space at the window area. It feels more balanced that way and your couch would be more in line with the TV unit!

Oh my god! This is the first time when I paused the video to try it myself and actually got the same solution as Cliff! That's an amazing feeling. Really glad these videos have taught me how to naturally feel better layouts for interior spaces :>
I will definitely end up coming back to them in my mind when I can eventually move into my own house.

Thank you!!! I’m told I should not place the sofas in a position where people walk in front of it when they come through the door but I see you have done just that 😄 so I was right after all.

This is the first time I came up with the same solution you showed, it's starting to sink in! 🎉

I would push the couch just a bit up to have a small end table & lamp near the window (and be in alignment with viewing the TV).

Then add a small table or filing cabinet at the end of the desks behind the couch.

Great solution. Thank u for posting! I have a long living room with no separate dining room area. Was thinking of placing my office desk behind the couch so I can get sun, and having the dining area at the furthest part of the living room

Such tiny places you're always bringing up! I get claustrophobic just by watching you moving around the furniture

I love the outside the box thinking constantly on display here. Dear Modern is really good at utilizing every nook and cranny without making things feel chaotic and cramped

I got as far as putting the two desks together and in the command position but I never thought to put the couch right in front of them!

If you gave me 30 days to work this one out I wouldn’t have come to this conclusion…but I love it. So practical.
