Review of Bialetti Express 3 cup. And how to use it to make a perfectly balanced coffee.

In video I'm using natural processed Ethiopian coffee (region Sidamo). Which is roasted for espresso (medium, modern roast, pretty light).

Two things which are important to know about moka pot coffee:
Intensity and Balance.

As for the INTENSITY - we adjust it mostly by the ratio. And by adjusting the grind size. But since I found the perfect ratio - you need to play only with the grind size.

BALANCE - mostly adjusted by the brewing time. But the dose of coffee and ratio will affect it as well. Target 40+ seconds of the flow.

GRIND SIZE - I used 1.8 on Kinu M47 which is around 300 microns. Meaning, around 10 clicks on Comandante c40. But it's just a starting point, you will need to adjust it for your taste anyway. And for every coffee it should be different.

If you're going to use paper filters - use bigger grind size to compensate for increased intensity.

RECIPE MOKA POT 3 CUP:
16.3 g of coffee (medium roast)
130 g of water

1. Add the water
2. Add the ground coffee and distribute it but don't press on it
3. Assemble and place on heat (high heat for 1 minute if you using cold water)
4. Adjust the power output (flame) so that the flow is slow. We need at least 40 seconds of the flow. Since the coffee started to appear till the bubbles
5. Serve right away. Enjoy

Very useful video, love that you added those trial and errors. But wtf is that cup, so cursed😅

Thank you. Ihave always been put off moka pots because of awful metallic brews from my youth. I would guess stale coffee, too intense heat and badly looked after pots. Perhaps I should put bad memories aside and try myself, though the metallic memory does push me towards steel :)

Pro tip: I apply an aeropress filter in the basket before applying the grounds, and I place one over the filter screen. Thick crema achieved, full bodied taste. Brew time 60-90 seconds.

But the pot that I have has the spout that drips directly into the cup, it's not a catchment like yours.

Will same 10 clicks comandante work for 3 cup Brikka with all it’s pressure things intact? Looks like pretty small grind size for moka pot :)
