Are remote workers 'hoarding jobs' by taking on second remote roles? This New York Times article dives into the ethics of overemployment, but its arguments raise more questions than answers. In this video, I break down the logic, expose the double standards, and explore why ambition shouldn't be shamed. From job hoarding analogies to workplace ethics, we uncover the emotional manipulation behind these narratives.

You cant even be im poverty without employers complaining about it.

Why is it acceptable for employers to expect you to handle two roles while paying you for one, but when you manage to secure and excel in two jobs yourself, it's not acceptable?

Well my main employer is hoarding a living wage which makes me have to work a second job...

How many CEOs sit on the boards of multiple companies?
Rules for us, not for them.

they told us in training that if we worked 2 jobs it could be considered conflict of interest. they can fire us with no notice and expect loyalty from us, they are delusional.

Work: "How do I discourage my remote colleagues from taking secret second jobs?"

Employee: "Pay us more or mind your own business if we're doing both jobs without conflictions."

Work: (꒪ö꒪)

New York Times Ethicist is an oxymoron. Not listening. How many CEOs have second jobs? How about congressmen and senators?

That's the same as saying businesses should not have more than one customer because they are stealing time from their existing customer by working on new customers.

If working 2 jobs is Job-Hoarding, then shouldn't not paying a better wage causing the person to need to work 2 jobs be seen as Resource-Hoarding?🤔

In this day and age, I have absolutely no problems with working for a rival company.

Note to employers, if you don't want your employees to get a second job, pay them a living salary as well providing benefits like a pension and paid time off.

What is it with this "loyalty" word these days? My only loyalty is to do the job I'm paid to do, and nothing more or less. Beyond that I will always do what is best for myself and my family.

I have been working remotely for 10 years and have not even considered grabbing a second job. When you get to a certain age, you realize free time is more precious than more money, so long as you have enough money to cover your living expenses.

One weird trick to prevent this.. pay your employee very well so that the second job isn't worth the risk

But wait - we're being told we need to increase the number of H-1Bs, so this can't possibly be a problem for STEM workers in the United States, right? There's no way jobs can be hoarded if companies are having such difficulty filling them, right?

As long as there is no conflict of interest between the two companies. It is none of the employers business what you do in your off time.

Why should anyone care about what we do outside of our work hours?

To be on a safe side, we can just keep our mouth shut and do whatever we want 😁

It's always the employee's fault. Never the CEO's or the system.

Some nurses work as waitresses in the free time. Is this hoarding? Corporations are notoriously disloyal to their employees. Planned layoffs. I have relatives who have GREAT skills and are treated horribly. Microsoft doesn't pay a pension? Please be kind - but watch out for your self honey.
