Day in the Life of the #1 BBQ in Kansas City

Kansas City, Missouri - This is a day in the life at the most legendary BBQ joint in Kansas City, Missouri. Started some 116 years ago, this no-frills spot has served up slabs of ribs, brisket and burnt ends to presidents, movie stars, and now, a mediocre travel YouTuber.

Today, I’m lucky enough to go behind scenes and see how they’ve maintained their status as one of the most famous BBQ restaurants in America - this is Arthur Bryant's BBQ in Kansas City, Missouri. What many consider to be the best BBQ in KC!

This all started way back in 1908, when a man named Henry Perry, aka “the Father of Kansas City Barbecue” began serving smoked meats for $.25 a slab from an alley stand in Kansas City’s garment district.

Brothers Charlie and Arthur Bryant were employees of Perry’s for many years until Henry and Charlie passed away, leaving the business to Arthur.

In 1949, Arthur moved the restaurant right next to Municipal Stadium, home of the then, Kansas City Athletics, and also the first home of the Kansas City Chiefs - which catapulted the BBQ restaurant to nationwide popularity.

Today, it’s up Wayne and the team to uphold the tradition - based on his own experience and developed instincts!

I hope you enjoy the episode!

Born and raised in KC. I've been going to Arthur Bryant's since 1963. I moved away from KC in '84 for my job but on my trips home I always go back to Bryant's. The BBQ scene in KC has definitely changed in the last 40 plus years. I cherish those times I had at Bryant's when Arthur was "on the pit" himself. My most memorable moment at Bryant's was meeting and shaking hands with Satchel Paige after an Athletics game, very cool. Thanks for the video.

I lived in KC years ago and have been to Arthur Bryant’s. It’s the real deal of real deals. Authentic. I remember the window sill being lined up with those bottles of “juice” just warming in the heat of the afternoon sun. Amazing

I was 5 yrs old the first time my dad took us into Bryant's. We would ride the baseball bus downtown and get off in front of Bryants to get our order to go. We'd walk up the hill a couple blocks then go into old Municipal Stadium and watch the Kansas City A's baseball games and the Kansas City Chiefs football games. I am 64 now. To this day Bryant's is best!

I moved to KC in 1988 from New York. Been to bryants many times. On first visit i was blown away at size of sandwich. They put 6 slices of bread grab a handful of pulled pork smash in top, then put fries on top of that. Then wrap all in paper. One hell if a sandwich will feed 3 easily.

I lived in KC for 5 years (98-03). First place my co-workers took me to was AB's. I will never forget that day and that lunch. It will always be a core food memory for me. And AB's is and will always be THE BEST in KC BBQ. Go there. Even if you have to make a trip to get there, it's worth it.

I absolutely love Arthur Bryant's!! My go-to is the beef and fries. Grab a cold pitcher of Boulevard Pale Ale and I'm good to go!!! Great video!

Been going there since my early teens and I'm 60 now. I had a little trouble with the "grittiness" of the sauce my first couple of visits. After that it became my favorite sauce and I still use it today! My favorite bar-b-que joint in the entire city because it authentic and delicious.

Thanks for your effort in filming unknown attractions in the US, the Baseball Museum looks gorgeous and the food does not look bad either putting tons of effort into its processing.
