This incident is not only a lesson for China, but also a warning for other countries. The mandatory technical monopoly of the United States is a very bad thing for people all over the world.

United States has done this before to French Company Alstom around 2013. They capture their executive (sounds familiar?) and then force the Alstom to sell their assets to the American Company GE, which was their direct competitor.

I listened carefully to the very respectful and thoughtful response from the CEO of Haewei and he is everything in a leader that Trump is not. Then I watched a 3o min Bloomberg video on the rise of Asia' s silicone valley in Shenzen and I was blown away by the scale of the buildings and infrastructure in general.
Trump and his supporters can talk as tough as they want, but economically America is about to get curb stomped if the present direction is not altered IMMEDIATELY !

Hey Prof. Wolff, took your class in Macro Econ in 1992 at Umass Amherst. I've been trying to tell my conservative friends that Trump's economic warfare is a bad idea. But they're not listening. The propaganda is strong.

Having grown up in Europe, we always thought of the US as our friend and alley. But in just 2 years we have been shocked to realise that we are no closer to the US than North Korea. This has had many consequences just in the company I work for. We have started to form much closer business ties with Asia rather. With this last round of problems with US & China, we have seen the value of our change, we are at least dealing with people that have a long term view on relationships.
