The medical community wonders people go on the net rather than talking to their doctors. Well, here's why. The doctors rush you by while the net gives you detailed info. Well done, Dr. Wong.

Dr Wong, I cannot thank you enough for this video. You spoke about the details that I'm sure many Drs don't take the time to explain fully enough; or they go so fast an older person cannot absorb or remember. I've saved this video in case I need to watch it again. You made me feel so relaxed about my surgery tomorrow morning. Thank you again.

I have my surgery coming up in a week, and my doctor hasn't covered any of this material. Thank you for your reassuring presence on YouTube!

If only I had seen and heard your video, pre and post op care, my stress would have been greatly decreased! My Dr. Rushed me through my first visit and was too busy writing to explain things face to face. I had to ask all the questions and again, I felt I inconvenienced him and left feeling stressed. Once I was being prepped on the table on the day of surgery, it was again a whorl wind of hands all over me and I was still trying to ask questions and wanted to see a few pictures of procedure so as to allay my fears. My answer was, “why didn’t you watch You Tube, ”. Wish I was told that info BEFORE I saw Dr. For the first time!!!! The other thing is that senior folks like me aren’t all that savvy about the things you can find online. So glad I found your very informative video. Thank you. The more tools you can give to the pt. the better. Carol

I found this video an hour before I left for my surgery. Dr. Wong told me much more than my doctor had. I'm no longer scared now that I know what's coming and what to do. Wonderful video! Thank you Dr. Wong.

Hello I’m blind of one eye yesterday I had cataract surgery in my “good eye” . Today I went for post op check up, and now I have 20/20 vision first time in my life that I can see clear.
You explained everything so well.
Thank you Doctor!

Dr. Wong, I am forwarding your video to our Ophthalmologist who did my wife's cataract surgery this morning. I would recommend your video to every cataract patient prior to surgery. You told us many things to be aware of that were just glossed over by the team helping my wife. My guess is that they do so many surgeries each day that to them most of this is "obvious". Truth is, for most of us there is more than a little trepidation and mystery. Thank you.

Thanks Dr. Wong for this excellent, detailed explanation that really put my mind at ease about cataract surgery. You obviously care about your patients. Wish there were more doctors like you out there. God bless you.

Dr. Wong, I have watched all of your videos that you have so thoughtfully made for cataract surgery candidates. I want to thank you, as they have put me at ease as to what to expect prior, during and after the procedure. My surgery was just performed 4 days ago and it went exactly as you have said, there were no surprises, thanks to your information provided. You are a credit to your profession!

Thank you for such a detailed video on post op care. From putting the shield on to using the drops correctly, made a huge difference. The first time I tried putting the shield on, it just didn't feel right and shifted when I lay down. If I could, I'd give a thousand thumbs up. My instructions, were to just use the shield when I sleep, for at least a week and wear my glasses or sunglasses during the day. I can't believe the difference the surgery made. I didn't realize how bad my vision was getting and am ready for the surgery on the other eye.

I’m an optometrist who recently had cataract surgery myself. EXCELLENT job covering 99% of potential questions that patients would have.
Many surgeons give patients 3 separate bottles rather than the PGB combo drop (PGB more expensive)...just might mention that

I had two cataract surgeries. Even after the first eye was done, I was laying in my bed 3 hours later, and noticed my scarf on the desk, the colors were brilliant, I didn't even know how beautiful the scarf was! The next morning, it was still a little clouded, but by the time I got back home from the follow up appointment I could see everything!

This is one of the most extremely useful videos on youtube, thx. Every single opthalmologist should be required to show this video to their own patients, or make one similar that is at least as comprehensive. Also, they should be required to discuss the lens options in detail, their relative risks, benefits, and limitations, and the out of pocket costs. These are very substantial issues of great importance to people on fixed incomes and/or who rely on their vision professionally. Informed consent demands it, and every patient has the right to expect it from their surgeon. Again, many thx.

I’m going to be rewatching this video many times prior to my surgery date. My opthalmologist is very busy and I’m thankful you took the time to explain the nuts and bolts of cataract surgery, patient preparation beforehand, day of, and the following one to two months. Thank you so much for your thorough explanation.

Dr. Shannon Wong is a fantastic and caring doctor. He did my Lasik in 2004. I am developing cataracts and will be coming back to him for this, maybe soon.

This is such a valuable video. All doctors should provide this for their patients — a lot is thrown at you when you are groggy after surgery. Thank you - it was so helpful to me.

Doc looks cool in those shades!! I just had both of my eyes done and I hope people listen to these instructions bc they are very important although I had the dropless cataract surgery which I recommend highly to anyone thinking of having this done, it's worth it I went from one having no vision to 20/30 24hrs post op, and 20/200 to 20/20 24hrs post op! Thank God for opthalmologists!!! God bless you all!!!
