I am a 71 year old widow. I am secure in my life but it came at a great cost, my husband's suicide. Eight years after the fact I am still dealing with the fallout and will probably do so until I pass on. I always worked full time during my working life, but am now retired. I should have a husband by my side to grow old with but I do not. That causes a bit of anxiety for me and find I am playing "whack a mole" with my emotions most of the time. I am trying to live a life of understanding others, give second chances, and always extend kindness. These are thing I can do for others that also fulfills me. I live a quiet life, have several good friends, and a roof over my head. I am thankful for what I have, and for what I have worked hard for. In spite of my loss, I have been blessed and try to remember that every day. Happy Birthday George, life is a gift and yours to spend as you will. It doesn't have to be all fireworks and brass bands in order for it to be a good life. Be peaceful, kind, open, smart, resolute, and happy with your own company.

I'm American female, age 65. I partied in my 20s, but somehow got two degrees. In my 30's, I worked, got married and became a stepmother. That did NOT go well, so I had a huge midlife crisis and married a very handsome man I did not know was a drug addict. Got divorced, moved to Alaska and started a business. Got a bunch of money and came back to the Lower 48 at 60. Now I have a quiet little life as an adoption social worker, reconnected with all my cousins, etc. When I'm 70, I'll move even closer to family, retire 100% and babysit for my family members. And that's how my "normal life" has gone George. You are doing very, very well and I love watching your videos. You make me happy. Peace Out.

"Never lament growing older. It is a privilege denied to many." Happy Birthday George and all the best for the coming year! You didn't waste your twenties - you developed a channel that is a calming inspiration.

My school teacher when I was in Grade 8 asked the class what each of wanted from life. I said security. The teacher was appalled. I think we should live the life that is right for each of us, not the life that others think for us.

You are so self-aware and introspective. I am a 77 years old woman who has never wasted a moment comparing my life with those of others. You are intelligent and unlikely to fall in to the trap of social media, it's not worthy of your time to compare your life to others. Just continue to live the life that feels is most comfortable for you, and be happy.

My birthday's on the 27th too! Happy Birthday! Nothing's a waste. Our 20's and 30's are for exploration. The worst thing we can do - and we all do it - is compare our life's journey with others. Trusting your gut and being true to yourself is paramount. I'm in my 60's and life around us now has definitely sped up significantly. The internet is a double-edged sword. It can be a great resource for information but there is also SO much garbage on it. I have no doubt it skews our perceptions. It sounds to me like you have figured out your own pace of life, and that excellent.

Happy birthday! I met my husband-to-be on my 30th birthday, so you never know what is around the corner! And our son is called George! He's now 30, so I must be somewhere over 60. You're doing just fine, and thank you for sharing little snippets of your life. I really appreciate your honesty.

I'm 34, and cannot express enough how much your videos have helped me, in a multitude of ways. I shall get back to my couch, Teddy bear and wine, but please know if you've wasted anything, it wasn't your 20's, for you help people, in ways unfathomable to most. Peace from South Africa ✌️

I live in Lubbock, Texas USA. I am 57 years old. I have dealt with mental health issues since I was a child. I do believe everyone's life is different. We all go down a different path. We all make good choices and bad choices. I have been suicidal several times in my life and I am grateful I have stuck around for the ride. Life is difficult and life is a struggle and life can be beautiful at times. I don't think it's easy for anyone. Having some regrets is part of being human. I have been exercising and lifting weights for the past 3 months. I feel calmer and happier. I know being still for too long gets me in trouble. I know being busy with all sorts of different things makes me happier. Keep moving forward and don't keep looking back.

People always told me 'your youth (younger years) are the best years of your life' and that always scared the shit out of me. I hated it and felt misserable. Thankfully it got a lot better when i got older.

Don’t worry! We have ALL wasted our 20’s. It’s okay - you are an intelligent, introspective person. You will learn and grow from like we all hopefully do.

I'm 29 and I wish I could say that it was either fun or productive, but it was neither. I became addicted, financially bankrupt, mentally ill and tried to off myself more than once.

I hope that the next decade can be better. I don't want to leave this beautiful world and the beautiful people that I have met.

Happy 30th Birthday! 🎉
This is largely why I don’t have social media at all. Comparison really is the thief of joy. Just working towards the things you are interested in, spending time doing things you enjoy, hanging out with the people you love - to me that’s a life well lived no matter what your age 😊💕

When you're 40, you'll wish for 30, and when 50 you'll wish for 40, etc., enjoy the age no matter what because before you know it, you'll be 70 and wishing you appreciated these times more.

You seem like such a loving person - the hug at the end of the pool game, the way you treat your cats - the world needs more men like that!

I forward your videos to my great grand dad. He is 97 and especially enjoys renovation videos. So yes, you have at least one viewer in their 90's. 👍

There is an old Sufi proverb
"long ago God drew a circle in the sand, exactly where you now stand. You were never coming here. It was never not coming to this."

The only path we can ever take, is the path that we took. All of the ways life could've gone, don't exist. The only option for your life, was the exact way it went.

I think every birthday brings about a bit of wistfulness and nostalgia.
May this year find your roads open and your path blessed

Happy birthday Patchy. I tapped the big 50 a few months ago. I took the path of stability and being generally responsible throughout these past decades. As I've gotten older, I've cared much less about what others think of me... which actually takes some pressure off me to look or act a certain way. Now I have grandkids and am very glad to have my health to go back and play again. My biggest issue throughout time has been that I've typically either been dwelling on the past or worrying about the future; and absent from the present moment. It's an area I still have work to do.

Happy Birthday, George! An old adage advises: "Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." You seem to have found several ways to do just that. You've also discovered what is fun--as you define it. That sounds like success to me.
