They're in every town - the homeless, the dispossessed, the forgotten. But once you realize the thin line that separates you from them, how can you pretend they don't matter?

Homeless, Jobless in America. The Official video of "Streets Of Downtown" from the Hitman Blues Band's 2013 release, "Blues Enough". Video directed and produced by Greg Mercado of Greg Mercado Productions.

This tells of a self centered young man (a Millennial) who gradually becomes aware of the problem of the homeless, the destitute, the forgotten people. As he starts to recognize the problems around him, he eventually becomes part of the support system. There is hope. Millenials, Generation Y (Gen-Y), Generation X, are all stepping up to help homeless vets, the poor, the helpless.

I loved the video and the message was terrific. Homelessness is every where, and it's really a tradgedy. All over the world and not just this country. There are more people suffering in this World then we know of. Those that are capable and/or can should do their best to help those that need it! There needs to be more shelters for people that are homeless. Charities and non-profits Orgs that can Help This is where our money needs to go the most help.Everday and everyway!

Great song, great band. Worth a listen. Reminds me a lot of Ralph McTell's Streets of London. Like a new blues version of an old folk classic.

"Her name is Sandy, but she don't know it." This is such a hauntingly beautiful way to describe the dehumanization that comes from being homeless. This song inspired us to make a video around this line. With your permission, we would like to give you a shout-out and post a link to this video. I am going to have to listen to this song again because I did not hear anything after this moving lyric.

Whaauww what a great song and video Russell, I loved watching and listening!
In the Netherlands we have a good social security/welfare system, but despite that we still have many homeless people as well!
