My cousin from Compton, California had to adjust to the "serenity" of being locked up here on the east coast (where his parents are from). He told me the difference is mind blowing with how the races weren't segregated. He also got mad props from day one for just doing time in California. He did his time though, got out, went to community college, got a job, got married to an African woman and did a total 360 with his life. THAT was twenty years ago. So, with examples like you and him, it can be done and done RIGHT!

I work in corrections on the east coast in GA. Everything this man says is fact, everyone is mixed together. I’ve seen bloods and crips playing spades together a thousand times. It’s all in the environment.

This my 3rd video I viewed from this channel. It's a trip how other prisons (not from California) are run. I'm a Chicano (Mexican-American) from Southern California (Compton) and most of the things you have covered are true. But with time the prison system and politics have changed a bit. I did 12 straight years in the system...and I learned a few things here and there in order to survive in that world.
Yes, when a white person goes into prison he has to join a group (there's different white cars he can be part of).
Typically if a convict doesn't want to join a group he will run "other". "Others" are people that don't want to be affiliated with anyone, they are just there to do time. The bad thing about joining "other" is that when you get into a situation...no one will help you. That's why you have to join a car (group) and follow their rules and regulations, and they will back you up. But if break any of those rules you will be dealt with accordingly.
Now, if you are white and claim a black gang you are looked at with no respect by the general population...even most of the individuals in your car won't respect you and they will use you. Yeah, you will have to earn your respect within your own group. And when new inmates come in...they will test you again. It's just a cycle.
But again...it all depends on which of the over 30 California prison you are housed in and who's running the shots.
Everyone will have their own opinions on the California prison politics based on how they lived it and based from different groups (Blacks, Whites, Asians, Mexicans, Paisas, Native-Americans, and Others).
The other thing I need to cover is the prison segregation...my opinion on this is when a larger group (Whites) back in the old days, used to prey on the weaker (minorities) the smaller groups had to get together and form there own group in order to survive against the other threat. Mexicans form their own groups, the Black did theirs too, etc, etc. That's how every group have their own sets of rules and regulations. And with time and conflicts between groups the prison became more segregated.
There's even sub-groups inside each group: Mexicans (southerners, northerners, bulldogs, paisas) Blacks (crips, blood), Whites (peckerwoods, aryan brotherhood, biker gangs, etc), others (mixed from different backgrounds).

I am not for segregation by any means and am far from racist. I just cant stand all these non blacks running around now days dropping NBombs like it were their first word learned..I was raised the minority, a white boy in a latino and black neighborhood but I stayed true to myself. I am 40 years old I survived 36 of those years a lone wolf in that neighborhood.. I had every opportunity to jump in, yeah I knew everyone and considered a ton of them my family but it was not for me not because Im a Peckerwood but because by joining the gang you are telling yourself subconsciously that you are weak, I need no other man to help fight my battles and most def will NEVER answer to another man. I do my dirt all by my lonely..Well used to do my dirt lol im old now its played out..Anyways my point is I am white, live on the west coast, was raised in an active gang zone, and there are non black crips and bloods that will take your life without question ..I have seen it all and had every chance to be one of the Dawgs but for me, whether your white or black or purple or yellow being in a gang is the biggest sucker move you could make..Sorry Death I may have smoked my dinner and just went on a rant...Dont be a sucker kids P.E.A.C.E

I'm from philly and I did 5 yrs in graterford state penitentiary .. and I'm Puerto Rican.. I've had white cell mates black cell mates.. there's really no segregation.. I've even seen black Latin kings.... but I love the content.. I literally watch ur channel well listen to ur channel all day at work.. keep up the great work.. DEATH I BRING...

Love your work! But The US prisons are completely screwed. I'm glad I live in Denmark and been doing time in Denmark. In Denmark, prison is about to punish people for the unlawfulness they have done and not to destroy the lives of the inmates.
