Most of the prostate gland consists of branched tubuloacinar prostatic glands. Some glandular acini contain prostatic concretions, that are formed by condensed prostatic secretions. The number of prostatic concretions increases with the age of the individual, and they become calcified. The glandular epithelium is usually simple columnar or pseudostratified. The fibromuscular stroma contains smooth muscle bundles and connective tissue fibres blending together.

Stained: hematoxylin-eosin (nuclei of cells are violet, cytoplasm is pink)
