Thank you very informative I have seen the video 3 x times and each time I learn a little more. I have BPH and had Brackytherapy treatment followed up my Beamtherapy over 4 x weeks. I am from the UK in my 70s I had no side effects from the treatment except I developed a sleep problem due to getting up during the night to go wee. Of all the stuff I was given to read up on regarding my BPH yours is the best explaining the Nuts and Bolts of BPH a big Thank you.

Thank you for the information.
I have one big question. If testosterone and DHT are major factors in BPH happening, why in the world don’t doctors have hormone tests done on men when they’re 30 or 40 years old, and then if DHT is high, something done about it then, before the prostate grows? The fact that they don’t, is very troubling, because this is one of the worst things that can happen to a man.
I asked my PCP about hormone tests. He said that insurance doesn’t cover them. What the hell? He said I have to go and have the lab do it on my own, and pay out-of-pocket. I’m in the U.S.

Thank you . Very clear and helpful.
Iv gone through psa .DRE .ultra and biopsy as I had a score of 4.2 . Had a shadow which could not be explained.
Prostate smooth but very weak flow
6 months later PSA jumps to 6.15 but bladder infection might be a cause. Right lobe slightly larger than left.
On 3 weeks co amoxiclav and followup PSA in 6 weeks.
I have no discomfort when getting the DRE so no prostrate infection suspected.
I'M 56.

there's a theory from china and europe that bph is due to prostatic cells swelling to try to glean iodine from the body (esp. after the age of 40-50). studies indicate that a few hundred micrograms to 5 miligrams of I2 iodine per day shrink the prostate considerably or prevent bph 99.99% of the time. in china, korea, japan, iceland, norway where iodine-rich seaweeds/kelp are routinely consumed (2-6 mgs net of total iodine/day), there are up to 5-12 times lower rates of bph, prostate cysts/stones, prostate cancer, and breast cancer/cysts (and other nodules, tumors, cysts). chinese/koreans/japanese also consume isoflavones-rich tofu and soy foods that are naturally inhibit dht. also, magnesium and recently astaxanthin have been shown, along with vit d, to prevent bph and prostate cancer. all the above are far far more effective than other micronutrients mentioned in the video and 100 times more effective than lycopene/beta-carotene which can actually turn pro-oxidant and have the opposite effect. [people should research and ask their doctors if iodine is ok for them. but in the nations listed above, higher iodine intake is part of their culture and diet.]
