Nice job on the fab work on the compounds. I've read through the build thread on 4BTswaps, it is really cool to see it in video. I know there is a lot more time and effort wrapped into this than a viewer like myself can fully realize. Thanks for sharing your work!

Great video and education Thanks again I am 61 already That video's remains me the good old days when everything was normal and simple with this type of engine's The trucking was trucking People in Detroit put the hands Hart and PROUD to build Trucks with engine's lake that

I like the idea of getting the gate open on the K27 earlier to move more air and hopefully cool down the EGTs. 15 psi should be plenty to get the K31 to light nicely. Cheers Mr 310!

Hopefully you're running an air to air intercooler. I have an air to air intercooler on my 8V-71 in my bus with by-pass blower-works great. No issues in 12 years. Course only 7G75 injectors for 375hp and 1125lb/ft torque.

I'm still baffled by the low view counts on your videos... Some of the best and most informative I've seen. Do people just not wrench on these anymore?

What would happen if you just eliminated the blower/bypass setup? Could you tune the turbo setup to get you the low rpm pressure needed for the two-stroke? You can't be too far off if you make 10psi at 1200rpm... What's the blower make? 2-3psi?

Is this setup on the same 4-53T where you did the upgrades to the T04E? Which do you like better?

Do you run the stock T compression ratio? Could you deck the block to increase compression instead of searching for boost or does that start to work against you?

I'm a diesel noob but lifelong wrencher trying to plan and source for a future build.

Looks very good and powerful! Wow!
You said in the video that you start to have boost at 1200 rpm...how do you manage the oil pressure if the engine is already coming to life at this low rpm... My Detroit still has a lower oil pressure (20-25 psi) at this rpm...did you improve your oil pump?

In regards to a light truck the 4-53 is probably the best match in regard to size and weight. It would be nice to achieve comparable power and Tourqe to modern technology, which I dislike, say 400-500 hp 750 -1000 ftlbs of Torque. A 6V53 is pushing the limit mostly in weight. Hope to hear further reports on your motor.

is the two part valve cover bespoke made? silver 4-53 series included diecast aluminum top clamping cover much like those on my 8v92ta --thx

How come nobody's mentioned anything about blower bypass. And, can you push air in through the other side like through the inspection plates or is that a pretty dumb question. Trying to figure out how to put mine together

What adapter plate and transmission did you use to hook that auto on there? Currently building one.

Coming along nicely, Are you intercooled via 6.4? or ?

Hi everybody. I have a question. What is the difference between the engine 4-53t and 4-71?
Thanks for the answer.

i take my hat off to you true compounded turbo setup feeding a blower. turbos are usually used to eliminate lag ( I drive a compounded VW the idea works really well. For an engine equipped already with a blower ( being a GM 2 stroke) its kill. 230 HP and 525 FTLBS of torque is a heck off a good result tho.

However, i will admit that im a tad uninformed wen it comes the neccesity of having 2 turbos?
What does that accomplish? And how?

So with compounding a two stroke the restriction on the exhaust is necessary to build cylinder pressure otherwise all your boost would flow out the exhaust am I correct

But isn't that 4 I 53 TT sweetheart????I mean it is a 4cylinder 53 series two turbo boost is it not???

To continue to evolve my Detroit rat rod I’m planning to compound mine as well with a T04 and a HE351 with the same bypass through the inspection side of the block. I’ll be swapping to a T motor. What size injectors did you use?

is this your first compound turbo build up? how did you acquire 53 series taste?

Two strokes need tuned exhaust to super charged cylinder as on Dirt bikes etc.
Charles Kettering of Zepher Train fame invented these.
Look up Napier Deltec engine ....
Nice work Thanks

I am watching your video I see you are referring to the bypass on the atmospheric turbo
Not the blower bypass I am thinking of adding a bypass to the blower
