for those who dont know: the turbo is connected directly to the manifold, which makes airflow. if you block the turbo, it stops the airflow from the pistons. therefore making it hard for the pistons to move easily, or even "killswitching" the engine.

Years and years ago, we were taught that one way to stop a runaway diesel was to hit the intake with a shot from a CO2 fire extinguisher. It basically displaced the O2 in the air and stopped the ignition cycle. I can't recall if it was only for a 2-stroke diesel, but the basic idea did stick with me all of these years.
