*Fun fact:* Six decades after the Battle of Geonosis, Boba and his granddaughter Mirta Gev returned to the Battle Arena in order to retrieve Jango's remains in order to give him a propier burial in Mandalore, next to Boba's daughter, Aylin Vel

From a simple execution to a rescue mission that resulted in hell breaking loose to an all-out war. The Battle of Geonosis truly was a explosive start to a epic bloody war.

What I find interesting about the First Battle of Geonosis is that, despite being considered a Republic Victory, neither side was truly victorious. While the CIS fled and the Republic "won" the battle, the Republic failed to complete the main goal of stopping the CIS before they became a threat.

In the words of Master Yoda:

"Victory? No Obi-Wan, not Victory. The shroud of the dark side has fallen. Begun the Clone Wars has."

Some pretty underrated fact about this battle is that this was the event in which Grievous (while hiding in the Geonosian Catacombs) killed a Jedi and took their lightsaber by first time. It would have been great watching this moment in Episode II as a character introduction for the Clone Wars 2D show and Revenge of the Sith.

My first day as a member of the 501st... it was hot, it was sandy, chaotic. Nothing at all like the simulations on Kamino. Of course that's pretty much the way it was for all of us, wasn't it? All that breeding, all those years of training... doesn't really prepare you for all the screaming or the blood, does it? Frankly, I'm still amazed we ever made it through the first hour, never mind the first day."

Dooku, “That is impossible. How could the Jedi come up with an army so quickly?” (Does the Dr. Evil pose)

The First Battle of the Clone Wars a messy day, and no doubt that the Republic Grand Army would have been crushed by the Droid Army, but without the other events that happen in this Battle perhaps the entire Clone would have been wipe out. Several Commandos squads and the space battle was also vital for the survival of the Grand Army of the Republic, but even with several minor victories in the planet the Confederacy’s Droid Army was able withdrawal with major amount of resources.

Don't forget that Dooku was already low-key trolling the Separatist Council. He was heavily involved in the arranging and commissioning of the Clone Army; but he acted as surprised as anyone else, simply blaming it on the Jedi and vowing vengeance. Reality: everything was going to the plan of the Sith. The events of the Petranaki arena battle were entirely premeditated by Dooku - he knew the Jedi would Leeroy Jenkins themselves.

Some have criticized the Republic’s infantry tactics at Geonosis, but if you look at the movie you’ll see that few clones get hit by actual blaster bolts. Keep in mind that their weapons have greater range and better aim than most of the battle droids, hence why the clones are standing relatively still and picking their targets while the droids are constantly running forward to get their targets within closer range. I imagine the clone armor is also more effective against bolts fired from greater distances.

"... sensing that SITH was about to go down"
That is genius.

Say what you will about Attack of the Clones, you can’t deny that it had one hell of a third act.

We really should have seen more of the first battle of geonosis

Fun fact. In the original Legends the Republic just took another rival hive that hated Poggle and put them in charge. Totally not an allegory for how the US or the British before them worked in other deserts.

Incredibly, the 501st survived the crucible of Geonosis, emerging battle-hardened, and ready for whatever the war would throw at us”

Very cool to see mention of Sev'Rance Tann. Damn shame she doesn't appear outside of Galactic Battlegrounds Clone Campaigns.

It's quite ironic that in the old republic, Revan and Malak entered Mandalorian Wars against the counsel's wishes, but about more than 3, 000 years later the counsel went full-on into the Clone Wars of which would also be met with grave consequences.

Personally, I believe in the popular theory that Dooku threw this battle in order to ensure that the clone wars would happen.

One thing I always wonder: the Kaminoans created the clones, but where did all the capital ships, tanks, mechas, etc came from? Who build those?

The battle is pure awesomeness. It was the greatest, most epic thing I ever saw in a movie (until ROTS). The prequels get much too little praise for its action.

I would like too know the full timeline for Felucia as it was one of the longest campaigns in the Clone Wars where neither side had a firm grip on the system.
