Lyrics:
You know, every now and then
I think you might like to hear something from us
Nice and easy
But there's just one thing
You see we never ever do nothing
Nice, easy
We always do it nice and rough
So we're gonna take the beginning of this song
And do it easy
But then we're gonna do the finish rough
This is the way we do "Proud Mary"

And we're rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
Listen to the story

I left a good job in the city
Working for the man every night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleeping
I was worrying 'bout the way the things might've been

You know that big wheel keep on turning
Proud Mary keep on burning
And we're rolling, rolling, rolling yeah
Rolling on the river (the river)

Cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis
Pumped a lot of tane down in New Orleans
But I never saw the good side of the city
Until I hitched a ride on a riverboat queen

You know that big wheel keep on turning
Proud Mary keep on burning
And we're rolling, rolling, rolling yeah (rolling)
Rolling on the river
Say we're rolling (rolling) rolling yeah
Rolling on the river
The river

Oh I left a good job in the city
Working for the man every night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleeping
Worrying about the way the things might've been

Big wheel keep on turning
Proud Mary keep on burning
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
Say we're rolling, rolling, rolling on the river

Oh I cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis
And I pumped a lot of tane down in New Orleans
But I never saw the good side of the city
Until I hitched a ride on a riverboat queen

Big wheel keep on turning
Proud Mary keep on burning
And we're rolling, tell you rolling, we're rolling on the river
I tell you we're rolling, rolling, rolling on the river

If you come down to the river
I bet you gonna find some people who live
And you don't have to worry if you got no money
People on the river are happy to give

Big wheel keep on turning
Proud Mary keep on burning
And we're rolling, tell you rolling, we're rolling on the river
Tell you we have no time (rolling, rolling, rolling on the river)

(Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river)
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river)
Tell you we're rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
I tell you we're rolling, rolling, rolling on the river)

This woman is LEGEND. An unstoppable force. This video was recorded when she was 69! For years, she took multiple sets of dancers on tour because, though they were all many years younger, one group could not keep up with her on every performance night.
Rags to Riches. Overcame insane abuse. Genre-bending R&B, Pop, Rock Goddess, and the best legs in the history of womanhood. She will be missed.

I've been choking back tears on and off as I have watched dozens of unforgettable performances by this incomparable queen since hearing of her demise yesterday, but THIS ONE finally broke through and made me shed some tears, NOT only due to sadness, but also because she was so captivating to behold! Tina Turner was such a talent, such a survivor, such a lifeforce. She was a genuine star who shone brightly and will never be forgotten!!!

Let’s take a moment and sit with the idea this performance was recorded 14 years ago, Tina was 69-70 years old. What a force of nature this woman was! RIP!

69 and still dancing her ass off and singing like she did't need to breathe at all... What a beast!

Anyone that ever has anything negative to say about Tina has never seen her in concert. Talent, raw energy and sexuality. Love her.

An absolute legend. She went through more than most of us could ever handle, but she was never a victim, she was always a SURVIVOR.

They asked Elton John what it was like to perform with Tina Turner. His response: Picture yourself standing next to the hottest spot in the universe.

I saw her in Dallas in 2000. At 60, she did things a lot of 40 (or maybe 30) year olds couldn't do. Truly the experience of a lifetime. RIP Tina. You were, and still are, "simply the best"! ❤
