Names, photos, info on LAPD officers accidently released

The president of the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners Tuesday expressed frustration and concern over how information related to LAPD officers was released to a watchdog organization and eventually published online.

Why would undercover police officers information even be available through the public information act? That defeats the purpose of being undercover. Seems the watchdog group would have that question before rushing to release that info on line, putting these officers and probably their families in jeopardy. The police officers on the list should sue everyone involved.

Either an act of gross stupidity or intentional sabotage. Also note that the media never release a name or indicate who is responsible which in most cases means a minority person caused the damage.

undercover means you pretend to be someone you're not, it shouldn't mean that your real existance as a police officer is hidden from the public. we do not want tyrannical unaccountable secret police in this country, your safety is less important than transparency in government. period. every government employee should go into a public database with basic identifying information available and understand that it's part of the job instead of acting like their identity is private.
