The hybrid motor came very close to answering my question but not quite. If you pull the rotor out of a stepper motor Karma you will notice that there are several rows of magnets. Instead of one long magnet per pole, each magnet is cut into several small section and each section is rotated on the shaft so it is offset just a little from the sections next to it on either side. I think I know why but I would like to hear it from you. My question is how do I calculate the proper amount of offset for each section?
