Good evening, thanks for the information, I have a question, I have a stepper motor with 5 wires colored yellow, blue, black, brown and red, the red being the connection of the central taps of both windings, without uncovering the motor Can you tell which are the windings? Thanks in advance.

After watching your vid, i went to buy 1 to use as wind turbine generator, i made 2 sets of full bridge rectifier & connected in series to get higher voltage...
My curiosity is why the LED still lit up in both left / right turn ?
Isnt that the current already converted to DC & should behave like DC ?

What I use is "Casun Stepper Motor" . Good working with cheap price.

Hey r u good at troubleshooting stepper motor / controller driver issues? Ive got all 3 axis running like crap rough herky kerky and slow...on my diy cnc using tb6560 Im still thinking its controller driver issue...if i run a continupus jog mode in a while the motor will go from slower feed rate grinding rough movement to smooth movement faster feed rate but only for less than 1 second...

Odd that all 3 sxis do the same thing though...usually mot all axis go bad at same time..however this is a low end junk all in one board so its possible...

I tried this some generic stepper motors and the LED works pretty well. But tried this a few others that work just to see what it do and the LED did not light even though the motor does work. Can you give me an explanation for this? When turning the shaft by hand I didn't get that resistance feel that I got on the generic.

So there no polarity between the two sets of winding wires? Or in other words it doesn't matter for rotation if the wires are mismatched on the ramps board as long as the 1a and 1b goes one set of windings and 2a and 2b goes to the other winding?

How did LED light in both directions ?? its a diode.

A tester device would be much easier and without risking to burn the led (you have no control over the tension provided by the motor).

Hi inhave a nema 23 stepper that appears dead...inhave voltage going to it but no sound or movement from motor...this is in a cnc machine...i removed the stepper and i can not turn the shaft by hand...had to use a wrench and extremely hard to turn.... This is not ok right?

I dont know they arent accessible without substantial work to remove...x and z steppers are good...y wont power on....using dro on cnc the z and y are good but when i try to jog y nothing happens....so i removed y motor and it just seems wong....it was lockked up pretty good even putting wrench to it....i confirmed power to y is proper and i confirmed controller to y is good...

The stepper is nema 23 279oz .9 degree 6 wire 2 wires not used

My steppers do not have those colors on the wires. I tested it with a meter to identify the windings but how do I ensure the proper connections on the ramps board?

sir i am very much intersted in buliding my own 3D printer with the help of your videos .By watching your videos i got a confidence in me to a one for my self .I an from india and i am already having 3 stepper motors i dont which categories they are but the seller told me that they are  having the capacity of "10 kg-cm "in the internet i searched the torque calculator in that it is mentioned that it is "138.77 OZ-in" can i able to use these stepper motor for mu=y project or not.it will be a great help for me from your reply iam waiting for your answer

I connected the y stepper to the x port and still wont pwr on so i know its bad stepper since i know the x works

I just discovered that my cables were connected wrongly and I think I just burn my stepper thanks for the tutorial.

Whats odd is there is absolutely no sound or mvement at all when power given to dead
