Vintage vs. New Tent Wild Camp @ Mountain Stream - Phreak & Cloud Peak

On today's wild camp we pit a vintage tent - the Phoenix Phreak against a new Naturehike Cloud Peak. We camp at a beautiful mountain stream in Wales and take the staffy dog along for the ride.

We used a firebox for warmth and to cook on which is a great leave no trace option for camping.
The temperature is beginning to drop for winter now so I used my army down sleeping bag and sheepskin rug for warmth. We had some quality craft ales and some rain through the night which gave a beautiful sound to sleep to.
It's great to get out in the wilderness away from civilization for the night.

Quality! Was out in cp2 last night and starting to get a bit annoyed at being soaked getting in and out. Rain dropping inside too off the cap. Probably same on most dome tents I guess.

I had a Phreak before and it was great. I took it with me to Cambodia and unfortunately the sustained heat and humidity caused all the waterproofing to flake off. Great shame as it was great…I’d even had a new inner made which was just mosquito net…

I still use my Phreak, bought new in the late 80s - although the seam sealing has gone to powder. in fact last video on my channel was my straight line mission where i wild camped in the Phreak :)

Personally I prefer the cloud peak 2 Adam, I have the Tamar 2 which is similar in design.

Nice seeing a vintage Phoenix tent, i still use my Phreespirit and EB (extended bell) Phreak. I think your vid is the only one on YouTube featuring a tent made by Phoenix.
