Wild Camp in Vango Force ten Tent, Vintage mountain / Hill tent review and field appraisal , camping

Wild Camping on top of a Hill in a Vintage, Vango Force Ten Tent ! Renowned for their robustness in stormy mountain weather conditions a chance to test out and review before taking the tent to the mountains. it performed superbly ! With a wonderful sunset and sunrise before a cooked camp breakfast i really enjoyed this adventure. Tent model is Vango Force Ten Mk3 CN early1980s vintage A frame Expedition Tent, with a nylon flysheet in excellent condition.

If you pack light everything and just use outdoor clothes, you can have your pack weight down to about 25KG with all of your food and kit. It is the most stable tent I have ever camped in and certainly the most comfortable. It will put up with any weather when pitched properly and for extended nasty spells too. The inside makes it's own distinctive noises in the wind and the cotton inner keeps it cool in summer and lovely and warm for winter use. It is a tent for life!! Keep guylines attached for the front and rear; you never know what will happen; and it takes the strain off the frame and "A" couplings. You don't want the frame rocking in the wind; that also puts strain on the tent material.

I admire your courage and stamina to backpack with what is now a heavy tent in comparison with modern lightweights. As a lad in the Scouts I would have hiked and camped several times with one but now such tent is confined to base camp car camping and it is a Hilleberg that straps to the side of my rucksac over the hills.
