Every time I tell friends and family that I’m an English major they always say: “ah so you’re going to become a teacher?”. And then I have to list them other jobs you can get.

Regarding the pay for a professor as you mentioned in the video: they do get paid more, but they have to be tenured ones. Whereas a high school English teacher can expect $45, 000-$50, 000 starting with benefits, an entry level professor would have to grind some years to have full time hours to earn higher figures ( about $80, 000-$100, 000). It’s hard work, but being able to teach students writing concepts, literature topics, or theoretical approaches utilizing ones own choice of books would feel more rewarding. It’s my passion to teach English at a college and hopefully that goal will be realized very soon.

Thank you so much for this video. I honestly got into an english major because i don't like math or science and im most comfortable with doing english work and what it requires. i really like the sound of the copy writer job the most. sometimes i get kind of worried with my future as an english major but videos like this ease my anxiety and remind me that there are things out there.

I’m so happy that I came across this video. I have a degree in English and I’ve been trying to figure out what I want to do with it. I always wanted to teach, but after my Freshman year I decided not to go that route.

I feel like there’s so many options for English majors, but I’m just not sure if employers would even like seeing an English major as an achievement because it might be seen as vague. Do you know if this could be true that it’s too vague?

Been considering the idea of getting further education, after graduating with an English degree, and becoming a college professor, maybe. Just don't know if it's really a higher pay job, but what I really know is that I don't regret choosing to major in English, cause English's my passion.

You don't have to be just a teacher with a damn English degree. You can go into law after a Master's...journalism, content writer, blog writer, proofreader, editor, and an Author.
