1. The color.
2. Mario can't win by doing nothing, but Luigi can.
3. Mario's princess always being kidnapped multiple times, meanwhile Luigi's princess can defend herself (and Luigi) from her kidnappers.
4. Mario's rival has a series and games, Luigi's "rival" was a living meme.
