I want to add something here, the tank was made for the terrain that Israel has and in that type of terrain it dose not have poor mobility, but in any other type of terrain the tank is F. The terrain there is hard and very rocky.

1. You give us videos of the mk Ii . Mk iii and barely mkiv to begin with. 40 years of tanks lol.
2. All merkavas have their engine on the front. Not exactly a new feature.
3.The mkiv’s original variant was here since b4 2005. With are you talking about succession??
4.If any the mkiv is now about to be phased by 300 ish upgraded merkava mkiv Barack variant.which is so overhauled, it’s been referred as mk v. And they will be replacing the mkiv windbreaker.

6.as for mobility? Compared to what? It was not built for the big flat planes of europe,
The merkava was built to traverse not just deserts, but the much harsher basalt and Rocky Mountain terrain.
It’s able to freely drive over basalt boulders that will dismantle all other modern tanks tracks, unless they drop their speed to a crawl.
It can climb over rocky uneven terrain that can flip some tanks and still maintain even a 50 60kph speed over the basalt terrain of he golan heights.
Only tank that came somewhat close to that was the legendary British centurion.
7. It is noisy though. And it’s not nimble as some of the Russian tanks.
But having an effective kinetic engagement range while on the move of about 5km, pretty much compensates even that.

It isn’t. Also the engine in the front doesn’t really act as extra protection now. A modern shape charge or kinetic penetrator would cut through that like butter. It is much better to have composites than steel and engine
