Hi Antonio, greetings from Argentina
It always gives me goosbumps when you mention the Cavallery Granedier Regiment from our Country.
Here is a true story that maight interest you: CGR (or Regimiento de Granaderos a Caballo) was founded by (at that time) Col. José de San Martín in 1812. His "baptism of fire" took place Feb. the 3rd of 1813 against Spanish forces in a town called San Lorenzo. In that battle, San Martín´s horse was injured and fell trapping San Martin´s leg. Sgt. Cabral helped him and gave his life to save his commanders one. BTW: Argentinian troops won that battle.
After San Martin´s campaigne crossing the Andes, liberating Chile and Perú from Spanish domain, he retired to France where he died in 1850 at the age of 78.
A few years later, one of our Presidents decided to bring back his remains witch rests in Buenos Aires´s Cathedral. And here goes the most interesting part of the story: at the time San Martín´s reminds arrived in Buenos Aires, ONLY 7 of the original soldiers of the Regiment were alive (at that time retired) and they decided to escort their former chief commander. And that event started a tradition that is current until today no matter who is ruling the Goverment.
Therefore ONLY 7 Grenadiers are San Martín´s honour guards in the BA Cathedral. And YES! those uniforms are head turning.
Thank you so much for this.
Cheers from NE Patagonia, Argentina (a dream place).

"Legionnaires to fight, legionnaires to die"
Nevermind the uniform, the motto alone is sexy and alpha AF

You should check out the Regimiento de Patricios (Regiment of Patricians) from Argentina, they were initially a local militia formed in 1806 after the British tried to conquer Buenos Aires (back then it was still a Spanish colony). I love their top hat, back then the citizenry wore that to battle and nowadays it fits perfectly for ceremonial duty, their military band is also one of the best ever, they even have their own military anthem called “El Uno Grande” which is an absolute banger, the Patricios together with the Granaderos are our most prestigious units and their uniforms are fire.

Since you spoke about the Carabinieri, there are also the Corazzieri, the President guards, and they're also part of Carabinieri. Thy uniforms are amazing

Cool videos man, it would be nice if you could make a video about the famous USMC uniform explaining how it change overtime or how it came to be like the WW2 German video

I visited Mexico City years ago and they had a military parade, their uniforms are so cool. I rarely see them get talked about.

I think it's very useful to look at uniforms when forming one's style, because as opposed to trends that come and go and do not necessarily do anything positive for the wearer, a uniform is influenced by tradition and has one priority, to flatter the wearer and make them look imposing. Those same elements are relevant in good civilian fashion.

Hi Antonio,
The VRI on the RCR badge stands for Victoria Regina Imperatrix or in English Victoria, Queen and Empress.
Being from southern Ontario I worked closely with the RCR then based in London, Ontario and many other area units early in my career.
Like most units in Canada and the east of the country in particular they go back a long way.
One unit, the Queen’s York Rangers in Toronto, hereditarily dates back to Roger’s Rangers from 1755 in New Hampshire.
Back in the old days a lot of units were militias that were formed in cities and counties.
It was the War of 1812 and 24 August 1814 when 4500 British regulars and Upper Canada militias advanced the eastern Potomac River, following a battle victory at Bladensburg the invading forces quickly routed a hastily arranged mishmash of 7000 mixed service US defenders and took Washington.
That day the attackers sacked the White House, Treasury, Department of War, Library of Congress, Capitol Building, a newspaper that published unflattering pieces about the naval force commander (RAdm Cockburn) and the Naval yard before withdrawing the following day.
Most private property was left untouched.
The attack was sparked as retaliation for the burning of the cities of York (Upper Canada’s (now Ontario) Capital)and Niagara but drew some backlash from not only the US but also England and Europe due to the extent of the damage.
Thankfully the war ended soon after and we have been friends and allies ever since.
Now, gotta do the Canadian Highland Units in the next one.

I remember when I went to Italy and saw their police for the first time, I was absolutely blown away by the design and fit. I’m not sure if you’ve done it yet, but I’d suggest looking at Russian/new North Korean (they’re pretty similar in cut) officer’s dress uniforms. I think for the North Koreans it’s the general staff uniforms.
