Growing up in an asian household be like: you are treated like a dumb toddler till 15, between 15 and 18 you are expected to know exactly what you want to do in life, by 20 they dont give a f as long as you arent a walking mess of a person.

I did the same with lying until I got really fed up when I was in my senior year in highschool. I told them everything and basically stood my ground. Did I almost get disowned? Yes. But luckily, I'm the only daughter at home and I did really well in school so they didn't have much choice since everyone knew me as a nice and obedient kid and relatives would side with me. Now I'm in university and my mother's my best friend. Of course, there are still certain habits that she instilled in herself as a mother but I'm pretty fortunate that my parents are still healthy and well
